Ja'Marr Chase Not At Practice

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase (undisclosed) was not present at practice on Tuesday. After holding in for a contract extension for the first couple of weeks of training camp, Chase was noticeably absent for the first time on Tuesday. Bengals head coach Zac Taylor noted that the situation remains fluid. Chase is entering the fourth year of his rookie deal and would like to receive a contract extension in line with the top wide receivers in the league. After a season in which Chase recorded a career-high 100 receptions for 1,216 yards and seven touchdowns, he certainly deserves it. Fantasy managers are hopeful that this situation will be resolved quickly so that Chase can get back on the field. The Bengals' offense is poised for a monster year with a healthy Joe Burrow.

Samaje Perine Remains A Cut Candidate This Summer

ESPN's Mike Clay believes that Denver Broncos running back Samaje Perine could become available before the regular season begins. Perine is currently a part of a crowded backfield in Denver alongside starter Javonte Williams and change-of-pace backs Jaleel McLaughlin and Audric Estime. With an expiring contract and no obvious future with the Broncos, Perine is a potential cap casualty for this summer ahead of roster cuts in late August. The veteran power back did quietly make a big impact a year ago, however, turning in the second-most yards per touch (6.7) over 103 touches and most yards per route run (2.04) across 223 routes among qualifiers at his position, so he could be a valuable asset to another team needing backfield reinforcements.

Zack Moss Returns To Practice, Working With The Starters

Cincinnati Bengals running back Zack Moss (illness) returned to practice Monday. He was spotted working with the first-team offense upon his return. Moss has been competing with Chase Brown for the No. 1 running back spot on the roster. Moss is coming off a career year with the Indianapolis Colts in which he ran for 794 yards and five touchdowns in relief of Jonathan Taylor. The Bengals signed the 26-year-old to a two-year deal in March to replace Joe Mixon. However, Brown has generated a lot of buzz this offseason. It remains to be seen how the Bengals will deploy their running backs in 2024. Neither player is expensive to acquire in fantasy drafts and both may be worth a shot.

Zack Moss Missed Preseason Opener Due To Sickness

Cincinnati Bengals running back Zack Moss got sick on Friday night, which is why he wasn't involved in Saturday's preseason game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, head coach Zac Taylor told Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic. Moss and Chase Brown are competing for touches in Cincinnati this season, so any sort of absence for Moss is less than ideal. With that said, he has impressed the coaching staff in camp and still has two more preseason games to showcase himself within the Bengals' offense. If Moss' performance with the Indianapolis Colts last season is any indication, he still has plenty of fuel left in the tank. Through 14 games (eight starts) with the Colts, he posted 794 rushing yards, 192 receiving yards, and seven touchdowns. He's an appealing high-end RB3 option in fantasy football this year.

Jake Browning Picked Off In Preseason Loss

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Jake Browning completed just 10 of 18 passes for 52 yards, zero touchdowns, and one interception during Saturday's preseason game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He also rushed for an additional five yards on two attempts. Browning re-signed with Cincinnati as their No. 2 quarterback this offseason, and while he remains in position to be Joe Burrow's backup, the competition got a little more interesting as Browning struggled and Logan Woodside excelled against the Buccaneers. Browning should get additional opportunities to separate himself from Woodside over the Bengals' two remaining preseason games. Even if Browning does win the backup job, he'll remain off the fantasy radar as long as Burrow is healthy.
