Josh Allen Underperforms Against New England

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen completed 16 of 29 pass attempts for 154 yards and one touchdown in the team's 24-21 win over the New England Patriots. He also tossed one interception and rushed for 30 yards on six carries. It was an uncharacteristically below-average game for the MVP favorite, who had scored at least 20 fantasy points in nine straight games. The Bills erased a 14-point, first-half deficit with opportunistic defensive plays and an explosive ground game. Fantasy managers who survived a playoff matchup, despite Allen's poor play, can look forward to a rematch with the New York Jets next weekend.

Curtis Samuel Inactive On Sunday

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Curtis Samuel (rib) is inactive for Sunday's divisional matchup against the New England Patriots. Samuel sustained this injury during last weekend's victory over the Buffalo Bills. During the week, Samuel remained a limited participant but was unable to turn the corner. As a result, fantasy managers should expect Khalil Shakir, Keon Coleman, and Amari Cooper to operate as the top wideouts for Josh Allen. Samuel has had a disappointing season catching just 24 passes for 201 yards and one score.

Ray Davis Could Get Garbage-Time Work Against New England

Buffalo Bills running back Ray Davis has consistently occupied a depth role behind James Cook this season, but that hasn't stopped him from earning touches, especially when the Bills need a change of pace or have mounted a large lead. Davis could see a significant share of garbage-time opportunities this week against the New England Patriots, who have allowed an average of 24.1 points per game to opposing offenses amidst their 3-11 start. The Patriots have struggled against NFL backfields, allowing the fourth-most rushing yards and fifth-most fantasy points to opposing running backs in 2024. This all bodes well for Cook more than Davis, but if Buffalo jumps out to an early lead as expected, we could see the rookie carve out a significant workload, too. He's worth considering as a low-end RB3/FLEX option in leagues with at least 14 teams.

Josh Allen Has Played Through Broken Hand This Season

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen (hand) has played through a broken hand for most of this season, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Allen reportedly suffered the fracture while diving on a scoring play in Week 1 against the Arizona Cardinals, and he has been treating the injury ever since. The broken hand only makes Allen's MVP-caliber season all the more impressive. The 28-year-old has been spectacular under center, completing 64.4 percent of his passes for 3,395 passing yards, 25 passing touchdowns, and five interceptions. He also has 484 rushing yards and a whopping 11 touchdowns, pushing the Bills to an 11-3 record so far.

Tyler Bass A Solid Kicking Option For Week 16

Buffalo Bills kicker Tyler Bass is worth starting in most fantasy football leagues ahead of his matchup against the New England Patriots in Week 16. The 27-year-old ranks ninth in fantasy points among kickers this year, going 50-for-54 on extra points and 21-for-26 on field goals. Even amidst some accuracy concerns on field goals, Bass has been able to rack up the scoring with an excessively high number of extra points. He has drilled 17 extra points over his last three games as the Bills continue to find the end zone at a rapid pace. That should continue this week against the New England Patriots. While New England ranks near the middle of the league in terms of fantasy points allowed to kickers this year, they have surrendered an average of 2.7 touchdowns per game (eighth-most in the NFL), which means that scoring opportunities won't be too hard to come by for Bass. He should be deployed as a top-10 kicker in Week 16.
