Mitch Trubisky In Talks With Bills

The Buffalo Bills and former quarterback Mitch Trubisky are in talks to reunite, according to a source. Trubisky was released by the Pittsburgh Steelers this offseason, so he's free to sign with any team before free agency officially starts next week. The 29-year-old former second overall pick by the Chicago Bears in 2017 out of North Carolina made five appearances for the Steelers last year, including two starts, and looked miserable, going 67-for-107 for 632 yards, four touchdowns and five touchdowns before the Steelers quickly went to Mason Rudolph for the rest of the year when Kenny Pickett was hurt. He played in Buffalo in 2021 and attempted just eight passes in parts of six games. If he returns to the Bills, he'd just be QB insurance behind starter Josh Allen.

Jalen Virgil Is Fully Recovered

Denver Broncos wide receiver Jalen Virgil (knee) has fully recovered from surgery for a torn meniscus that he suffered in the team's second preseason game on Aug. 19 against the San Francisco 49ers, according to a source. Virgil was placed on season-ending Injured Reserve as a result, but the undrafted rookie in 2022 is eagerly awaiting his return for the start of spring drills in April. In nine games (one start) in his rookie year in 2022, the 25-year-old caught just two of his five targets for 75 yards and a touchdown for the Broncos. He also worked on special teams in the return game. If Virgil earns a spot on Denver's 53-man roster to open up the 2024 regular season, he'll most likely serve in a special teams role again while also providing receiver depth, but he won't be a fantasy asset.

Steelers Releasing Mitch Trubisky

The Pittsburgh Steelers are releasing quarterback Mitch Trubisky after two seasons with the organization, the team announced on Monday. The 29-year-old appeared in five games (two starts) for the Steelers in 2023, completing 67 of his 107 passing attempts for 632 yards, four touchdowns, and five interceptions. Originally drafted by the Chicago Bears with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, he has failed to live up to expectations and will likely be nothing more than a backup moving forward. The Steelers have an interesting offseason ahead as they look to settle on a starting QB.

Josh Allen Not Planning For Surgery On His Shoulder

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen (shoulder) popped up on the injury report in week 7 with a right-shoulder injury but never missed a game the entire season despite staying on the injury report with the shoulder issue until Week 16. At his season-ending press conference, Allen said he's not planning to have any type of surgery on his shoulder. "It just felt like it kept getting better as the season went on," Allen said. "And especially these last probably four weeks, felt like it didn't bother me at all. So yeah, I don't think there's anything." While his shoulder affected him at times, Allen said he's feeling good now and is looking forward to having a normal offseason. The 27-year-old was the QB1 overall for fantasy during the regular season and will be one of the first few signal-callers off the board in 2024 drafts.

Bills Sign Darrynton Evans To Futures Deal

The Buffalo Bills signed running back Darrynton Evans and defensive tackle Eli Ankou to Reserve/Futures contracts on Tuesday. Evans will head to training camp this summer hoping to give the Bills some extra running back depth behind James Cook, Ty Johnson and Latavius Murray with Damien Harris (head, neck) heading into free agency in March. The 25-year-old was with three different NFL teams in 2023 and saw action with the Chicago Bears and Miami Dolphins. In seven games combined, he carried the ball just 32 times for 121 yards and one touchdown, with most of his production coming with Chicago. He also caught seven passes for 49 yards with the Bears. The former third-round pick in 2020 by the Tennessee Titans has 62 career carries for 246 yards and one touchdown, adding 12 catches for 120 yards and another score in four seasons.
