The Buffalo Bills will travel to visit the Miami Dolphins for Week 2 of the NFL season after a Week 1 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Miami Dolphins, who are coming off a close victory over the New England Patriots, are slated as underdogs by more than a field goal via oddsmakers.

Opening odds – Bills-Dolphins

The Buffalo Bills kicked their season off as -6.5 favorites versus the Pittsburgh Steelers — that looked good in the first half, but it all changed in the third quarter. The Steelers held the Bills to just six points in the second half while putting up 23. Now the favorites once again, the Bills will be heading into Miami Sunday, hoping to get things back on track. For the Dolphins, they get slated as the underdog once again. In a low-scoring affair, the Dolphins were led by Tua Tagovailoa to get ahead while the defense made sure to keep Mac Jones and company out of the end zone in the second half.

Quarterback analysis – Josh Allen vs. Tua Tagovailoa

Josh Allen had a Pro Bowl year in 2020, throwing for 4,544 yards with 37 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. His start to the 2021 season wasn’t stellar, though, as he threw for 270 yards with one touchdown. He was relied on heavily to throw and completed just 30 of his 51 passes. The Steelers’ defense was able to keep him out of the end zone in Week 1 — while the Dolphins were able to do the same versus Mac Jones, this will be a much better quarterback to face in Week 2.

Tua Tagovailoa didn’t throw much against the New England Patriots and had a decent outing, as he threw for 202 yards with one touchdown and one interception. With a more balanced approach by the Miami Dolphins, the Week 2 match-up may call on the young quarterback even more. Ben Roethlisberger didn’t have his way with the Buffalo Bills by any means, as he was kept to just 188 throwing yards with just 18 completions out of 32, but Tagovailoa may be able to do more as he is more mobile when the pocket starts collapsing around him.

Latest Bills betting news & info

The Buffalo Bills had a very good season in 2020 as they finished the regular season with a 13-3 record. They were able to finish 11-5 ATS and 10-5 when it came to the O/U category. They went on an eight-game winning streak to end the regular season last year and covered the spread in every one of them. They also only went under in three of those last eight games and the lowest total came to end the regular season versus the Miami Dolphins.

While the Buffalo Bills kicked off this season as -6.5 favorites, unlike last season, they weren’t able to cover as they lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers 23-16. They were only able to finish one drive with a touchdown, which came in the second quarter as Josh Allen found Gabriel Davis. Devin Singletary and Stefon Diggs found ways to be productive, but it just wasn’t enough as the Steelers defense managed to shut drives down.

Latest Dolphins betting news & info

The Miami Dolphins kicked off their 2021 campaign as underdogs once again but in a matchup that was much closer. They came into Week 1 as 3.5 underdogs and were able to cover the spread while keeping the under on points total. They were underdogs in nine games last season and covered the spread often, going 11-5. They went 7-9 when it came to the O/U also last season with nine games being above the 44 points total also.

For Week 1 of this season, the Miami Dolphins played well as a whole team as the defense gave up just one touchdown throughout four quarters and the Patriots found the red zone off of a questionable roughing-the-passer call. Tagovailoa was able to connect with his former college teammate Jaylen Waddle on a touchdown pass for his only score through the air. Tagovailoa was also able to find the end zone on a short run in the third quarter that set them up to lead for the rest of the game.

Bills vs. Dolphins betting picks – NFL Week 2

Neither team showed too many sparks in their Week 1 matchups and may cause for some concern with the over/under of 47.5, but I believe we see a shootout. The Steelers kept Allen out of the end zone with his receivers for most of the game, but that won’t happen two times in a row. While the Dolphins looked good on the defensive side against the rookie Mac Jones, this is Josh Allen. He will find ways to open up this offense with Diggs, Cole Beasley and Singletary. I believe the Bills win and cover the spread of -3.5
