The Chicago Bears appear to have landed on their starting quarterback for 2021, signing Andy Dalton to a one-year deal Tuesday, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Dalton, 33, played 2020 in Dallas after spending his first nine seasons with the Bengals. He made the Pro Bowl in 2011, 2014 and 2016.

Bears address QB, sign Andy Dalton

Fantasy slant: The Red Rifle is cocked, locked and loaded, fully prepared to fire off nothing but blanks in the Windy City. Inexcusably, the Bears signed him to the same amount of cash (1-year, $10 million) as Washington shelled out for a more effective Ryan Fitzpatrick. For an organization that's never featured a 30-TD passer in a single season, Dalton's mediocrity is par for the course. Surrounded with more suitable weapons in Dallas last year, he was woefully mundane finishing QB20 in adjusted completion percentage and QB32 in average depth of target (7.5). He's the QB, due to a drunken haze, you are saddled with late in two-QB leagues. Pour one out, once again, for Allen Robinson, an extraordinarily talented wideout who gets a signal caller who thrives on tossing wounded ducks. His volume will be massive, but expect erratic performances due to Dalton's glaring inefficiencies. — Brad Evans
