The Chicago Bears added some depth to the backfield Wednesday, agreeing to terms on a one-year deal with ex-Chiefs RB Damien Williams, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
The #Bears have agreed to terms on a 1-year deal with former Super Bowl hero RB Damien Williams, source said. Lots of familiarity, as he knows Matt Nagy’s offense from KC, and he was OC Bill Lazor with the #Dolphins.

Williams, one of the heroes of the Chiefs’ Super Bowl championship, was released last week. He had 498 rushing yards for the Chiefs in the 2019 season and then put up 133 scrimmage yards and two scores in the Super Bowl. He opted out of the 2020 season.

Fantasy slant: This is a much-needed depth move by the Bears. With Tarik Cohen sidelined last year, Chicago had David Montgomery and a whole lot of nothing else. Montgomery remains inked in as the lead back, though he won’t see as much passing-down work with Cohen back on the field. — Jeff Ratcliffe
