Our fantasy football rankers are some of the best in the business, but that doesn’t mean they always agree. Twice a week, our rankers will highlight some names they are furthest from the staff consensus fantasy rankings on and explain why you should either be targeting those players or steering clear in your 2024 drafts.

3 You’re Too High On for 2024

Davante Adams, WR, Las Vegas Raiders

FTN ranking: WR9
My ranking: WR13

I’m not out here saying Davante Adams is bad, because he’s obviously not, but the quarterback situation combined with his age is enough for me to rank him lower than my fellow FTN-ers in the our fantasy football rankings.

Adams is vital to the Raiders’ success, and they know it. According to our new StatsHub tool with advanced NFL stats, Adams led the NFL with 155 first-read targets. And while he topped 100 receptions for the fourth straight season, he had his fewest yards (in a full season) since 2017. He also scored fewer than 10 touchdowns (again, in a full season), since 2015.

It’s no coincidence that those core stats started to fall off when his quarterback play fell off a cliff. And his age isn’t helping. He’ll be 31 this season and 32 by the end of the year.

Adams has been a fantasy godsend for over a half-decade, but we’re much closer to the end. I’d rather come off him early, and there’s too many things working against him this year for me to feel great about drafting him.
