Dallas Mavericks point guard Luka Doncic (calf) has been ruled out Friday against the Phoenix Suns. Doncic is expected to miss a significant amount of time after sustaining a calf injury on Christmas against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Doncic left American Airlines Center on crutches on Wednesday, with an MRI scan on Thursday confirming the guard had suffered a strain. Shams Charania has reported that Doncic will be re-evaluated in one month. With Doncic missing this many games, he will be ineligible for any postseason awards. Doncic, who scored 14 points in 16 minutes against the Wolves, is averaging 28.1 points, 8.3 rebounds and 7.8 assists per game. While he is sidelined, Spencer Dinwiddie and Quentin Grimes will be in line for more minutes.
According to ESPN's Shams Charania, Dallas Mavericks guard Luka Doncic (calf) is likely "to miss an extended period of time." The 25-year-old was listed on the injury report because of a heel injury heading into the Christmas Day loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves but was able to suit up. Unfortunately, he lasted only 16 minutes before his premature exit because of a calf strain. Doncic was observed leaving the arena on crutches, with an MRI now scheduled for Thursday. Kyrie Irving, who had 39 points off 14-for-27 shooting from the field versus Minnesota, is the favorite to lead things on the scoring end while Doncic is on the shelf. Quentin Grimes, averaging 14.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, 1.2 steals and 43.1% shooting from deep in nine starts this season, should also be in line for an uptick in fantasy production.
Dallas Mavericks point guard Luka Doncic (calf) will not finish Wednesday's Christmas game against Minnesota. The Mavericks leader injured his left calf, exiting the action with 2:31 remaining in the second quarter. He was off to a great start in the game with 14 points, five rebounds, two assists, and one steal in 16 minutes. Quentin Grimes started the second half in Doncic's place. Spencer Dinwiddie will need to put in extra work as well during Doncic's absence.
Dallas Mavericks point guard Luka Doncic (heel) will play against Minnesota on Christmas Day. Dallas has upgraded him from probable to available. Doncic returned from a two-game absence on Monday versus Portland and eased his way to a 27-7-7 line. He has recorded three triple-doubles in his last five appearances and will look to do something special again. The Slovenian superstar has been immense in previous Christmas Day outings, averaging 36.3 points, 6.3 rebounds, 10.3 assists, 2.0 steals, and 1.3 blocks.
Dallas Mavericks guard Luka Doncic (heel) is probable for the Christmas meeting with the Timberwolves. Doncic missed the two previous games heading into Monday's win over the Portland Trail Blazers. He played well enough in that one despite going 1-for-7 from behind the arc, amassing 27 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists. With that in mind, Doncic is a must-start in all redraft setups. However, the 25-year-old struggled shooting the ball when the Mavs and Timberwolves met back in October, so he could have a tough time getting it done for DFS managers, especially when taking his massive rostering cost into consideration.
