Fred VanVleet Unavailable Versus Thunder

Houston Rockets point guardFred VanVleet(ankle) won't play on Monday against the Oklahoma City Thunder. VanVleet returned on Saturday after sitting out 11 straight games due to a right ankle strain. He played in 35 minutes, but it appears that he had re-injured his ankle. The 31-year-old could potentially be back in action on Tuesday versus the Pacers. Amen Thompson (shoulder) will be back at point guard while VanVleet is on the shelf. However, Thompson is currently questionable for Monday's contest as he is dealing with soreness in his right shoulder.

Fred VanVleet Tagged As Questionable For Tuesday

Houston Rockets point guard Fred VanVleet (ankle) is listed as questionable for Tuesday's tilt against the Milwaukee Bucks. Last week, Rockets head coach Ime Udoka stated that VanVleet is "about 80 percent" healthy, so the former All-Star looks close to being ready to return from a nine-game absence. If his comeback doesn't happen on Tuesday, VanVleet will have another chance to suit up on Wednesday against the San Antonio Spurs. VanVleet's return may push Amen Thompson back to the bench; however, the two might fit in the starting unit together, with Dillon Brooks (illness) possibly unavailable on Tuesday.

Fred VanVleet Nearing Return

Houston Rockets guard Fred VanVleet (ankle) has been ruled out ahead of Saturday's game against the Utah Jazz. The veteran guard will now miss nine games in a row due to a lingering ankle issue. Head coach Ime Udoka said that Vanvleet felt soreness in his ankle following Thursday's practice. He continued by saying that Vanvleet is about 80 percent healthy right now. The team is going to wait and see how he feels before they make a decision about Vanvleet's status for next week. Dillon Brooks and Amen Thompson should continue seeing increased roles for now.
