Anthony Edwards Back In Action Against Phoenix

Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards (calf) will play on Sunday against Phoenix. He wasn't available for Friday's loss to the Jazz because of a calf injury, marking his third absence of the 2024-25 campaign. Terrence Shannon Jr. entered the starting lineup, finishing with an impressive 17 points, five assists and four boards. But with Edwards and Julius Randle (groin) back in the mix, Shannon likely won't be as productive, although he's played well enough to at least see some minutes on Sunday night.

Julius Randle Will Play On Sunday Night

Minnesota Timberwolves forward Julius Randle (groin) will play on Sunday against Phoenix. The 30-year-old missed the last 13 games because of a groin injury. But he'll be back in the lineup, which is great news, considering Minnesota is still without Rudy Gobert (back). It will likely take Randle a few games to return to form. Still, fantasy managers should add him back to their starting lineups. With that said, Randle's return will likely result in less work for Donte DiVincenzo and Nickeil Alexander-Walker. Also, Naz Reid, who had 27 points in the loss to Utah on Friday, may not be as productive with Randle and Anthony Edwards (calf) on the floor.

Julius Randle Expected To Play On Sunday Night

According to NBA insider Chris Haynes, Minnesota Timberwolves forward Julius Randle (groin) is expected to return on Sunday night against Phoenix. The former Knick has struggled throughout his time in Minnesota, averaging 18.9 points, his fewest since his final year with the Lakers back in 2017-18. He's also missed the last 13 games because of a groin injury. Randle will likely need at least a few games to ramp up. However, he's a must-start for fantasy managers, especially with Rudy Gobert (back) ruled out and Anthony Edwards (calf) questionable. Either way, Randle's return should still result in fewer minutes for Donte DiVincenzo and Nickeil Alexander-Walker.

Rudy Gobert Sits Out Sixth Straight Game

Minnesota Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert (back) will miss a sixth straight game on Friday against the Utah Jazz. He is still unavailable due to managing a lower back injury. Naz Reid has had a huge run during Gobert's absence. However, he left fantasy managers disappointed in Thursday's clash against the Los Angeles Lakers, managing only three points with 12 rebounds in 31 minutes. On Friday, Reid finds himself in an excellent bounce-back spot, as only three teams allow more fantasy points to opposing centers than the Jazz.

Donte DiVincenzo Upgraded To Available

Minnesota Timberwolves guard/forward Donte DiVincenzo (toe) will be active on Friday against the Utah Jazz. He returned from a 19-game absence on Thursday against the Los Angeles Lakers, posting nine points, five rebounds, six assists, and one steal in 23 minutes. Minnesota initially had DiVincenzo listed as questionable on Friday's injury report. DiVincenzo took only six shots -- all from downtown -- in Thursday's game, making half of them, but he should have a bigger say in the offense on Friday night, as Anthony Edwards (suspension) will not be in the lineup.
