With a matchup against the Hornets on deck, it wouldn't be surprising if the Timberwolves gave Gobert a little extra time to heal his ankle if it's serious. Otherwise, fantasy managers should expect Gobert to get the start on Monday. If he is ruled out, though, expect Naz Reid to get the start at center. Reid is averaging 13.7 points and 6.2 rebounds off the bench and should be targeted in all fantasy formats, regardless of whether he's coming off the bench or not.

As part of the move, Gobert declined his $46.6 million player option for 2025-2026 and the extension will start with the 2025-2026 season, keeping him in Minnesota through 2028. The 32-year-old is entering his third season with Minnesota as their starting center and will have to get used to playing alongside the newly acquired Julius Randle after Minnesota traded Karl Anthony-Towns to the New York Knicks. Gobert has averaged 13.7 points per game and 12.3 rebounds coming into Tuesday night's season opener, making him a reliable option around the rim. In his first game after signing his new extension, Gobert scored 13 points and grabbed 14 rebounds in the Timberwolves' 110-103 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers. He will continue to be a reliable fantasy option in Minnesota's offensive system for the coming years, especially for fantasy managers in need of rebound production.

Minnesota Timberwolves power forward Julius Randle (shoulder) is expected to make his team debut in Wednesday's preseason clash with the Bulls. This will mark his first action since January when Randle hurt his right shoulder. He will likely have restrictions for the game, but it will be interesting to see Randle in a Timberwolves uniform. Unfortunately, Randle won't get many chances to work up some chemistry between him and his teammates before the season starts because Minnesota plays its final exhibition game on Thursday, and it's hard to imagine Randle playing on back-to-back nights after missing so much time.

Reid is expected to come off the bench this season, but proven himself to be a viable option in that role.

Reid notched 13.5 points with 5.2 rebounds in 24.2 minutes last season, boosting his numbers to 17.6 points and 7.0 boards in 14 games as a starter. He will likely see him as a starter again at some point this season, considering Randle's injury history -- he has averaged 64 games per season during his 10-year NBA career.
