The Sweet Spot: MLB Fantasy Picks Today for DFS (7/8)

Every Monday, I try to turn the daily MLB slate writeup into more of an evergreen, DFS strategy/theory piece to which you can return at any time and still find value. Today’s topic is about sacrificing projection points to be different, how the GPP Scores naturally handle this concept, and how slate context should change our approach.

Shazzam’s question in Discord that inspired this article was about lineups as a whole — how much worse can a lineup project than the chalky optimals and still be worth playing? I’m going to answer by first addressing the question at an individual player level, then closing at the overall lineup level.

In short, I am comfortable sacrificing points of projection more than I’m comfortable sacrificing ceiling. I’ll elaborate. Let’s immediately jump into Monday’s pitchers, with Chris Sale functioning as a prime example.
