StatHero NBA picks 6/9

One of my favorite things in DFS is the opportunity to try a new outlet. Diversifying where you play is key to building a bankroll. That type of opportunity is exactly what we get today with our new friends at StatHero.

In short, StatHero offers fantasy players two ways to play. A revolutionary DFS Sportsbook, and a fantasy-based survivor pool. The app doesn’t pit players against players, you’re always playing against StatHero. For a more in-depth look at what StatHero has to offer, check out this app review from FTN’s Tyler Loechner and Chris Meaney’s new video breakdown.

Stat Hero NBA picks for tonight

Player prices will fluctuate throughout the day with news, so prices in this article may not reflect what you see on the app when you’re making your lineup in the sportsbook. Make sure you join the #StatHero channel in the FTN Daily Discord. It’s free and you can always tag me with any questions you may have leading up to lock.

Here’s a look at my favorite plays for Wednesday’s slate on StatHero.

StatHero MVP picks (normally $11k and above)

Your MVP will score 1.5x the fantasy points. With only one game Wednesday, the price ranges on the site are little different from our normal writeups on multi-game slates. As of this writing, league MVP Nikola Jokic is priced in a tier of his own and for good reason. He projects much higher than anyone else in this game and I think there is enough value to get him in at MVP. My other option is Devin Booker if you want to take a more balanced approach. Those two are the only players I would consider for MVP.

Flex picks ($6.5k-$11k range)

A lot of this midrange tier is going to come down to the health of Michael Porter. Currently questionable, keep an eye on any quotes or status changes regarding Porter leading up to lock. If he were to sit with his back issue, it would open up some more value for Denver; guys like JaMychal Green and Aaron Gordon would likely see their roles in the offense increase and you could even see some usage trickle to Monte Morris or Austin Rivers. The largest jump in usage actually goes to Jokic, who is sporting a 43.6% usage rate with Porter off the court in these playoffs. From the Phoenix side, I’m fine getting to your choice of their main rotation guys. My preferences outside of Chris Paul and Deandre Ayton at the top of this price range are Mikal Bridges and Jae Crowder. Unless you’re building for a blowout, you’re getting a little dicier slotting in Cameron Johnson or Cameron Payne because of how they’re priced.

StatHero sleeper/value picks ($6.4k and below)

My favorite way to attack StatHero’s lineup they have posted at this time is to get Facundo Campazzo in at a dirt-cheap price for what his role is projected to be. It’s the biggest misprice currently for this one game slate. The other key is Torrey Craig at minimum price. He opens up Jokic at captain without totally ransacking the rest of your lineup’s projection. He shouldn’t play a ton of time if this game stays close, but the savings you get going to Craig rather than some of those Phoenix bench guys I mentioned in the tier are key to taking home the win tonight on StatHero.
