One of my favorite things in DFS is the opportunity to try a new outlet. Diversifying where you play is key to building a bankroll. That type of opportunity is exactly what we get today with our new friends at StatHero.

In short, StatHero offers fantasy players two ways to play. A revolutionary DFS Sportsbook, and a fantasy-based survivor pool. The app doesn’t pit players against players, you’re always playing against StatHero. For a more in-depth look at what StatHero has to offer, check out this app review from FTN’s Tyler Loechner and Chris Meaney’s new video breakdown.

Stat Hero NBA picks for tonight

Player prices will fluctuate throughout the day with news, so prices in this article may not reflect what you see on the app when you’re making your lineup in the Sportsbook. Make sure you join the #StatHero channel in the FTN Daily Discord. It’s free, and you can always tag me with any questions you may have leading up to lock.

Here’s a look at my favorite plays for Wednesday’s slate on StatHero.

StatHero MVP Picks (normally $11k and above)

Your MVP will score 1.5x the fantasy points. Taking a look at prices in this upper tier, it seems to be the best course of action is to attack the lineups where StatHero is running out Russell Westbrook at MVP. He doesn’t project that much higher than Joel Embiid, who is $4,200 cheaper. Yes, you read that right, he’s currently $9,800. Embiid is my favorite player to roster in the MVP spot Wednesday; he projects very close to Westbrook and also opens up a ton of space for other great plays. Normally the prices for MVP options are $11k but it appears the playoffs could provide us more balanced builds, at least in the first round. Other viable options at MVP are Julius Randle and Trae Young.

StatHero flex picks ($6.5k-$11k range)

This price tier is absolutely stacked. Two of my MVP picks from the previous section are actually down here. Knowing Embiid and Young are sub-$11k, you can also roster guys like Rudy Gobert, Donovan Mitchell, Clint Capela, Jonas Valanciunas, Ja Morant, Tobias Harris, Mike Conley and Ben Simmons between $8k and $11k. It’s a good time to remind players of the build rules. You can only match two players from StatHero’s lineup (effectively creating a 4v4) and you can only play two players from the same NBA team, so choose wisely. There are plenty of options between $6.5k and $8k as well like RJ Barrett, Bogdan Bogdanovic, Kyle Anderson, Alec Burks, Jaren Jackson and Dillon Brooks.

StatHero sleeper/value picks ($6.4k and below)

Luckily, it doesn’t appear we need to dumpster dive on this slate. My favorite play from this range is Derrick Rose, but StatHero also appears to roster him as their salary relief. Some ways to get different are Reggie Bullock, Nerlens Noel (listed questionable), Seth Curry, Danny Green and Desmond Bane. If you do want to get dirt cheap, Daniel Gafford is only $400 off the minimum, and if you want to get really wild, his teammate Alex Len (who should start) is the flat minimum. I’d stick with Gafford as my cheapest rostered player in my StatHero lineups Wednesday.
