One of my favorite things in DFS is the opportunity to try a new outlet. Diversifying where you play is key to building a bankroll. That type of opportunity is exactly what we get today with our new friends at StatHero.
In short, StatHero offers fantasy players two ways to play. A revolutionary DFS Sportsbook, and a fantasy-based survivor pool. The app doesn’t pit players against players, you’re always playing against StatHero. For a more in-depth look at what StatHero has to offer, check out this app review from FTN’s Tyler Loechner and Chris Meaney’s new video breakdown.

Stat Hero NBA picks for tonight
Player prices will fluctuate throughout the day with news, so prices in this article may not reflect what you see on the app when you’re making your lineup in the sportsbook. Here’s a look at my favorite plays for Wednesday’s slate on StatHero.
StatHero MVP picks (normally $11k and above)
Your MVP will score 1.5x the fantasy points. There are really only three options on this two-game slate for MVP and it’s exactly who you’d think. My only choices to start my lineups here are LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Stephen Curry. It looks like StatHero is also taking that approach, with the two Lakers as their preference. Curry is coming in much more expensive than the two Lakers, and I think it’s possible that our roster construction could lead us to favoring only one of the three mentioned here in our lineups tonight. Where prices stand as of this writing, Davis is so much cheaper than the other two, it’s tough for me to get away from him if I’m only choosing one to include in a lineup. It’s easy enough to play two of them, but I think the way to beat StatHero tonight is to pay down for some of the usage hogs in the early game. Your other options salary-wise in this range are DeMar DeRozan and Jonas Valanciunas.
StatHero flex picks ($6.5k-$11k range)
I think this is where we win Wednesday. We know rotations will tighten, and the top players’ minutes will increase. Especially in the do-or-die scenario in the San Antonio vs. Memphis game, we could see 38-plus minutes from guys like DeRozan, Dejounte Murray and Ja Morant. Other options in this range for me would be Andrew Wiggins, Kyle Anderson, Dennis Schroder, Jakob Poeltl and Dillon Brooks. I prefer to get two of those top guys I listed in this tier in with one of the “big 3” from the top range, it just projects to have a higher ceiling than having to scrape the bottom of the barrel. Although, that price range isn’t devoid of playable guys, so let’s check out what we can do in that bargain tier.
StatHero sleeper/value picks ($6.4k and below)
Focusing on cheap starters is the smartest way to fill out our lineups on StatHero Wednesday. Look to players like Lonnie Walker, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Grayson Allen or Desmond Bane (whichever one starts). That’s not to say you couldn’t take a shot on high-upside bench guys like Patty Mills, De’Anthony Melton or Brandon Clarke. I just don’t feel like we need to take those chances in a head-to-head DFS sportsbook matchup with StatHero Wednesday.
