StatHero NBA picks 5/12

Stat Hero NBA picks for tonight

Player prices will fluctuate throughout the day with news, so prices in this article may not reflect what you see on the app when you’re making your lineup in the sportsbook. Here’s a look at my favorite plays for Wednesday’s slate on StatHero.

StatHero MVP picks (normally $11k and above)

Your MVP will score 1.5x the fantasy points. We’ve talked a lot about Russell Westbrook and the fantasy destruction he’s caused those who have chosen to fade him over the last five weeks. While his price is elevated to a more appropriate range on the most popular DFS sites, there’s still a ton of meat on the bone on StatHero. You’ll likely be matching StatHero, and if you see any lineups with him out of the MVP spot (or out of the lineup entirely) I would try to pounce ASAP. If you want to get away from Russ at MVP, I would look to Luka Doncic first. You’ll save some salary, and while he won’t hit the same upside as Westbrook as frequently, he does possess that slate breaking ceiling. Other potential salary-saver MVP options for me are Kevin Durant against the Spurs, Trae Young against the Wizards and Jayson Tatum against the Cavs, although the Celtics don’t have much to play for so tread carefully with Tatum. 

StatHero flex picks ($6.5k-$11k range)

There are a lot of options in the midrange that we can load up on to beat StatHero. Near the top, I’m a fan of CJ McCollum, Demar DeRozan and Dejounte Murray, as all three guys are on teams trying to win. Jordan Clarkson is a bit cheaper than the three above, but the Jazz are still trying to win to clinch the top seed in the Western Conference. At this time of the year (especially in a format where you cannot late swap) we want to lock in players who we know will be giving full effort. Right before the cutoff in this tier, we see good values like Joe Ingles, Eric Bledsoe, Jaxon Hayes and Nickeil Alexander-Walker (lots of Pelicans are out).

StatHero sleeper/value picks ($6.4k and below)

I think it’s possible to get three high-end players in a lineup Wednesday. That’s because this bargain tier is flush with good options. Raul Neto with no Bradley Beal for Washington is in play here, but I like going even cheaper to guys like Kenyon Martin (aka “JuniorJunior” around these parts), Kira Lewis, Payton Pritchard and Isaac Okoro. Then all the way near the floor you can slot in Aaron Nesmith.
