One of my favorite things in DFS is the opportunity to try a new outlet. Diversifying where you play is key to building a bankroll. That type of opportunity is exactly what we get with our new friends at StatHero.

In short, StatHero offers fantasy players two ways to play. A revolutionary DFS Sportsbook, and a fantasy-based survivor pool. The app doesn’t pit players against players, you’re always playing against StatHero. For a more in-depth look at what StatHero has to offer, check out this app review from FTN’s Tyler Loechner and Chris Meaney’s new video breakdown.

Stat Hero NBA picks for tonight

Player prices will fluctuate throughout the day with news, so prices in this article may not reflect what you see on the app when you’re making your lineup in the Sportsbook. Here’s a look at my favorite plays for Wednesday’s slate on StatHero.

StatHero MVP Picks (normally $11k and above)

Your MVP will score 1.5x the fantasy points. Working within the salary cap is obviously a factor, but there are only a few players I am considering for MVP. Normally, I’m looking to some of the most expensive players on the slate, but I think we can get a little cute by saving some salary up top and raising our floor as a whole. I have no issue getting to guys like Nikola Jokic and Russell Westbrook, who will likely be StatHero’s MVPs of choice in any main slate lineup you will face. But Zion Williamson projects extremely strong for me Wednesday and will save you a few thousand in salary off those more expensive options. You can certainly pair Zion as a flex play with one of those previous two guys in your MVP, but you’ll have to dig deep into the value plays to make it happen.

Flex picks ($6.5k-$11k range)

Paul George stands out at the top of this range for me. I wouldn’t scoff at you if you wanted to play him in your MVP spot, but I think pairing Zion and PG is a great way to start a lineup Wednesday. Other great options right below him include Rudy Gobert in a matchup against the Kings, and Michael Porter against the Pelicans. In the mid- to lower end of this price tier are guys like Darius Garland (Collin Sexton will miss again), one of the “ultimate green light” players in Buddy Hield, who should get all the shots he wants albeit in a tough matchup, and his teammate Tyrese Haliburton, who is just too cheap for the opportunity he will see with the Kings starting lineup decimated.

StatHero sleeper/value picks ($6.4k and below)

Down in the bargain barrel, my eyes immediately drift to Jaren Jackson, who is way too talented to be priced this low even with a reduced minutes load. Keep watch for news on Steven Adams; if he misses this game with his toe injury, we can get great value out of Guillermo Hernangomez at a bargain price. Other guys in this range to fill out your lineup include PJ Dozier, Raul Neto and Mo Harkless. If Brandon Goodwin (currently questionable), suits up for Atlanta he’s a solid value, but if he sits you’ll likely find Kris Dunn near the minimum price and in his 15-18 minutes should provide fine value for the salary.
