Tanner Scott Coughs Up Four Runs in Blown Save

Los Angeles Dodgers relief pitcher Tanner Scott entered Wednesday's game and got the final out of the seventh inning just fine, but stayed in for the eighth where he allowed four runs on three hits and one walk. Including the strikeout he got in the seventh, he recorded two outs and struck out two in the appearance. This was his fifth blown save of the season and his third in his last five outings. The 30-year-old now has a 4.62 ERA in 2025, which is a long shot from the 1.75 mark he posted last season.

Jackson Merrill Homers in Win Over Marlins

San Diego Padres outfielder Jackson Merrill had a productive night in his team's 8-6 win over the Miami Marlins on Tuesday. Merrill went 1-for-3 with a solo homer, two walks, and two runs scored in the win. With the score 7-6 in the eighth inning, the second-year outfielder gave the Padres an insurance run in the eighth inning with his fifth homer of the season. After a breakout rookie campaign, Merrill is enjoying an excellent sophomore season, hitting .333 with 18 runs, 19 RBI, and one steal across 111 at-bats. He remains one of the top outfielders in fantasy and should be active in starting lineups every day.

Manny Machado Hits Another Clutch Homer Monday

San Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado came through in a key moment in Monday's 4-3 extra-inning win over the Marlins. Machado went 1-for-4 with a solo home run, a walk, and a strikeout. The 32-year-old launched an eighth-inning Calvin Faucher offering into the left-field seats to tie the game 3-3. Machado has been on a power surge, hitting three HR in his last four games. He has put together solid numbers in 2025, slashing .319/.391/.497 with six HR, 24 RBI, and seven stolen bases in 215 plate appearances. Fantasy managers should be pleased with his overall production, especially his increased stolen base count.

Yu Darvish's Rehab Assignment Paused

San Diego Padres right-hander Yu Darvish (elbow) is not ready to come off the injured list to make his 2025 debut in the big leagues after feeling tightness in his right elbow after his last minor-league rehab start with Triple-A El Paso on May 14, according to The San Diego Union-Tribune's Kevin Acee. The good news is that Darvish continues to play catch after throwing 51 pitches over four innings in his only rehab start for the Chihuahuas. The Padres and Darvish aren't calling this a setback, but it's definitely concerning for a 38-year-old hurler that was only able to make 16 starts for the Friars in 2024 due to arm issues. Darvish is expected to be evaluated further this weekend, at which point we should have a better idea of whether he'll continue on with his rehab assignment or be shut down from throwing. A setback at this point of the year could put the rest of Darvish's season in jeopardy.

Luis Arraez Out for Series Opener Versus Marlins

San Diego Padres first baseman Luis Arraez is out of the starting lineup for Monday's series opener at Petco Park against his former team, the Miami Marlins. With Arraez resting, Jake Cronenworth will start at first base and bat sixth, with Jose Iglesias starting at second base and batting eighth against Marlins left-hander Ryan Weathers. It will be Arraez's first day off since returning from the injured list on April 29. Not only are the Padres facing a left-handed pitcher, but the 28-year-old two-time batting champion could use a mental day off after going hitless in his last 12 at-bats in the three-game series against the Atlanta Braves. Neither Cronenworth nor Iglesias are particularly attractive DFS options against Weathers on Monday night. Cronenworth hit his fourth homer of the year on Sunday but is batting .208 (5-for-24) with one of his four long balls on the year against lefties.
