He should be rostered in most fantasy formats right now as he's doing good things at the top of the lineup.

The 25-year-old won't have to miss any games now that he's back in action for the series opener in Queens. The switch-hitting speedster has started his 2025 season by going 9-for-36 (.250) at the plate with three doubles, three RBI, two stolen bases, four runs scored, four walks and 10 strikeouts in nine games played. Fantasy managers will want to get him back into their starting lineups. Edwards is hitting .143 in just seven career at-bats versus Senga.

Instead, the Marlins will turn to Javier Sanoja to serve as their shortstop. He will bat ninth. Through the first nine games of the regular season, Edwards has posted a .250/.317/.333 slash line with three doubles, a 4:10 BB:K, and two stolen bases. He enjoyed an impressive finish to the 2024 season, swiping 31 bags with a .328 AVG across 70 contests. Sanoja is not worth targeting in DFS facing Atlanta right-hander Grant Holmes.

Edwards went 4-for-6 at the plate with one RBI and one steal in what ended up being a 6-5 loss in 11 innings. The speedy infielder hasn't been off to an ideal start to the season, but hopefully this four-hit performance will help him get back on track. Fantasy managers should stick with him as his speed alone should make Edwards worth rostering.

In only 70 games for the Marlins last year, Edwards went 31-for-35 in stolen bases, so it's certainly possible for him to reach the 60-steal mark if he can stay healthy over the course of a full 162-game season. Overall in his second year in the big leagues in 2024, the 25-year-old infielder hit .328/.397/.423 with an .820 OPS, only one home run, 26 RBI and 39 runs scored to go with his 31 steals. The lack of power from the premium position certainly hurts in fantasy, but Edwards can be useful in category leagues for his contact skills and speed. RotoBaller has him listed in the fifth tier among shortstops at No. 17, just ahead of Boston's Trevor Story. Edwards can also be an asset in on-base-percentage leagues if he continues to take his walks.
