The Philadelphia Phillies plan to start right-handed relief pitcher Nabil Crismatt in their Grapefruit League opener on Saturday against the Detroit Tigers. Right-hander Tyler Phillips will get the ball for Sunday's game against the Baltimore Orioles, while left-hander Cristopher Sanchez will start on Monday against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Crismatt, 30, signed a minor-league deal with Philadelphia back on Dec. 13. He is merely competing for an Opening Day bullpen spot with the Phillies in spring training after spending most of last year pitching at Triple-A for three different teams. Crismatt had a bloated 5.81 ERA with 75 strikeouts and 28 walks in 79 innings pitched and is nowhere near the fantasy radar. The Colombian hurler has a career 3.71 ERA and 1.29 WHIP in five major-league seasons since debuting in 2020 with the St. Louis Cardinals.

The Philadelphia Phillies signed free-agent right-handed reliever Nabil Crismatt to a minor-league deal earlier this month. Crismatt will head to the National League East after spending the 2024 campaign pitching for the Los Angeles Dodgers. He only made five appearances out of the bullpen for the eventual World Series champions, though, and allowed three runs (two earned) while walking none and striking out six in seven innings of work. The 30-year-old also had an unsavory 5.81 ERA with 75 strikeouts and 28 walks in 79 innings at three different minor-league levels. Crismatt will most likely open the 2025 season at Triple-A Lehigh Valley and will serve as relief depth for the Phillies. He has a career 3.71 ERA and 1.29 WHIP in 177 innings in his five big-league seasons dating back to 2020.
