Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Jose Berrios, who was originally scheduled to start on Tuesday, has been moved up for Monday's series opener at Fenway Park against the division-rival Boston Red Sox. Berrios will take the ball instead of Easton Lucas. The 30-year-old Puerto Rican hurler was beat up for six earned runs on nine hits (three homers) in five innings on Opening Day against the Baltimore Orioles on March 27, but he bounced back in his second start on April 1 against the Washington Nationals to give up only two earned runs while walking three and striking out eight in 5 2/3 frames. It's not a great matchup for DFS purposes -- the Red Sox scored 16 runs in Game 2 of a doubleheader on Sunday night -- but Berrios will also be making two starts this week now that he's been moved up. The two-time All-Star comes into his third start of the year with a 6.75 ERA and 1.69 WHIP in 10 2/3 innings.

He's had a solid spring with a 2.35 ERA, 13 strikeouts and four walks in four starts covering 15 1/3 innings pitched. Berrios is no longer a big strikeout guy, which lowers his fantasy floor and ceiling, but he's been as durable as they come for a starting pitcher. We would recommend avoiding him in DFS in a tough first matchup against the O's.

It was the 30-year-old's seventh consecutive quality start and 20th on the season. The 2x All-Star has been good at home, posting a 10-2 record with a 2.69 ERA, and has put together a nice season overall, with a 3.44 ERA, 1.12 WHIP, and 12.5% K-BB% to go with his 16-9 record.

Berrios allowed one run on six hits over seven innings while striking out eight and walking one to earn the win. The veteran wound up notching 12 swinging strikes to improve his record to 10-9 on the season. Overall, Berrios has a 3.97 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, and 111 strikeouts over 142 2/3 innings of work. Even though his strikeouts are down this season, Berrios remains a solid mid-rotation asset in fantasy leagues. He will look to stay hot in his next start, which is scheduled for Wednesday against the Los Angeles Angels.

The long ball continues to haunt Berrios as all the damage in this game came off home runs. Despite that, Berrios was able to miss enough bats with his excellent stuff that it kept his team in the game. He'll take a 3.76 ERA, 1.13 WHIP, and 87/29 K/BB ratio into his next start against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
