Minnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton decided to bring his power swing with him for this series against the Detroit Tigers. On Sunday, Buxton started off the scoring with a solo home run off right-hander Casey Mize in the first inning. He would later double in the sixth inning as the Twins would eventually get the 5-1 victory. He finished his day 2-for-4 with a homer, double, and two runs scored. Buxton doesn't have a pretty slash line, but he finished with two homers and three RBI during this weekend series with the Tigers. Fantasy managers who have Buxton rostered might want to stick with him a little longer.

Minnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton is out of the lineup for a second straight game on Thursday in the series finale against the division-rival Kansas City Royals at Kauffman Stadium. Buxton struck out four times in Tuesday's game in KC and will start the game on the bench once again in favor of Harrison Bader, who is starting in center field and batting ninth against Royals right-hander Michael Wacha. Buxton has gone hitless in seven career at-bats against Wacha, while Bader has hit .364 against the veteran hurler with a .728 OPS in 11 career at-bats. In his first 11 games of 2025, Buxton has been cold offensively, hitting .171 (7-for-41) with a homer, two doubles, four RBI, two stolen bases, one walk and 16 strikeouts in 43 plate appearances. As far as we know, the oft-injured Buxton is healthy. If he's not back in the lineup on Friday against the Tigers, though, something might be up.UPDATE: Buxton has returned home for a personal matter.

Minnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton turned in an excellent game in a 6-1 win over the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday. Buxton went 2-for-4 with a double, a homer, two runs, and two RBI to help power the Twins to their second win of the season. His homer was a first-inning solo shot off Chicago starter Sean Burke, a blast that traveled 444 feet with an exit velocity of 111.7 MPH. Buxton had been off to a slow start before Wednesday as he came into the game with just two hits in 17 at-bats. He will look to keep it going as the Twins open up a four-game series against the Houston Astros on Thursday.

Minnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton has had a normal offseason after his 388 plate appearances in 2024 were his most since 2017. "He feels as good as he's felt in a lot of years," president of baseball operations Derek Falvey said. Buxton has had a normal offseason and hasn't needed any rehab or physical therapy, which should benefit him greatly heading into the 2025 campaign. The 31-year-old played in over 100 games (102) for just the second time in his 10 years in the big leagues. He hit .279/.335/.524 with an .859 OPS, 18 home runs, 56 RBI, seven steals and 62 runs scored for the Twins. Buxton still dealt with knee and hip injuries, though. He showed he still has above-average pop, but his high risk of injury and the fact that he no longer runs as much makes him much less desirable as a fantasy outfielder. RotoBaller has him ranked as the No. 66 outfielder heading into the 2025 season.

The Minnesota Twins reinstated outfielder Byron Buxton (hip) from the 10-day injured list on Thursday and optioned utility man Austin Martin to Triple-A St. Paul in a corresponding move. Buxton was fully expected to come off the IL and rejoin the Twins on Friday before their series opener against the Cincinnati Reds at Target Field. Minnesota has made the move to reinstate Buxton a day earlier. The Twins have a scheduled day off on Thursday, but Buxton should be back in the lineup on Friday night. The oft-injured 30-year-old outfielder will return to being an everyday player for the Twins, although he could be eased in at first with designated hitter duties before eventually taking over in center field. Buxton has only six steals in 90 games in 2024 but has hit a nice .275 (84-for-305) with 16 homers and 49 RBI in his 10th year in the league.
