Minnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton (back) is starting in center field and is batting second for the Twins in Game 1 of Friday's doubleheader against the visiting division-rival Cleveland Guardians and left-hander Joey Cantillo. Buxton developed some lower-back stiffness after crashing into the outfield wall last Sunday and missed the team's last three games, but he's ready to go for a big weekend series against Cleveland. However, there's a good chance the Twins will keep the 30-year-old oft-injured outfielder out of the lineup for the second game of the twin bill. Although he's hit just .227 (10-for-44) in 13 games since the All-Star break, Buxton does have five home runs, three doubles, eight RBI, six walks and a stolen base in that span and will be hoping to pick up where he left off before tweaking his back.
Minnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton (back) remains out of the starting lineup on Wednesday against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field. Buxton came down with some lower-back stiffness after crashing into the outfield wall on Sunday against the White Sox and will now miss his third straight game. It doesn't sound like a very serious injury, but given the 30-year-old's lengthy injury history, fantasy managers shouldn't be surprised if he eventually lands on the 10-day injured list if he isn't able to get back on the field by the weekend. Minnesota has a day off on Thursday, so check back on Friday to see if he's available for a scheduled doubleheader against the division-rival Cleveland Guardians. Austin Martin is in center field on Wednesday and is batting eighth against Cubs right-hander Javier Assad.
Minnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton (back) remains out of the starting lineup ahead of Tuesday's game against the Chicago Cubs. Buxton was forced to exit early on Sunday and will now miss his second game in a row due to back tightness. This doesn't seem to be the kind of issue that would require a trip to the injured list. For now, fantasy managers should consider Buxton as day-to-day. In his place, Austin Martin will cover center field and bat sixth versus left-hander Shota Imanaga on Tuesday.
Minnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton (undisclosed) is not in the team's starting lineup on Monday against the hosting Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field. Buxton ran into the outfield wall while making a catch on Sunday against the Chicago White Sox and was pulled from the game due to an undisclosed injury. Although the 30-year-old veteran was medically cleared, the Twins will play it safe and keep the oft-injured outfielder out on Monday. For now, fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day and check back on Tuesday to see if he's back in the fold. Manuel Margot will start in center field and bat eighth on Monday against Cubs right-hander Kyle Hendricks. Margot carries very little fantasy upside with a .238 average (54-for-227) with only three homers, 25 RBI and four steals on the year, especially batting out of the eight-hole.
Minnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton was removed early during Sunday's game against the Chicago White Sox. The speedy outfielder collided into the wall making an incredible catch to end the sixth inning. After that, Buxton was removed from the game but it was likely for precautionary reasons. The Twins were already running away with the game so there was no reason to push Buxton back out there. He was checked out by the medical staff and appears to be fine going forward. Fantasy managers should double check on Monday just in case something does pop up.
