An MRI exam on Minnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton's injured right hip came back clean on Tuesday, according to a source, and he's considered day-to-day. Buxton was forced from Monday's win over the visiting division-rival Kansas City Royals at Target Field early due to hip discomfort and isn't in the starting lineup for Game 2 of the series on Tuesday. However, it looks like the oft-injured outfielder has dodged a serious injury. If Buxton isn't available for the series finale on Wednesday, hopefully he'll be back in there for a series opener in Texas on Thursday to face the Rangers. The 30-year-old former second overall pick in 2012 is actually on pace to play in over 100 games for just the second time in his career in 2024, and although he doesn't run much these days, he's been solid with a .275/.334/.528 slash line, 16 home runs, 49 RBI, six steals and 54 runs in 90 games played.
Minnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton (hip) remains out of action on Tuesday against the visiting division-rival Kansas City Royals at Target Field. Manuel Margot is making another start in center field and will bat seventh for the Twins versus Royals veteran right-hander Seth Lugo. The oft-injured Buxton was pulled from Monday's series opener against KC with right-hip discomfort and is day-to-day moving forward. Margot has hit .833 with a 1.833 OPS in six career at-bats against Lugo but will be a low-upside DFS play on Tuesday in the seven-hole. The 29-year-old Dominican isn't a mixed-league option in fantasy with a weak .238/.293/.346 slash line and a .639 OPS, four home runs, 27 RBI and four stolen bases in 240 at-bats this year.UPDATE: An MRI on Buxton's hip came back clear, according to a source, and he's day-to-day.
Minnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton was removed from Monday's game against the division-rival Kansas City Royals at Target Field after striking out in the fifth inning. Manuel Margot replaced him in center field. There's no word yet from the Twins regarding the status of Buxton, as there wasn't an apparent reason why he was pulled on Monday night against the Royals. Fantasy managers should stay tuned for more details sometime during or after the contest. The oft-injured 30-year-old star outfielder is slashing a strong .275/.334/.528 with 16 home runs, 23 doubles, 49 RBI, and six stolen bases in 305 at-bats for Minnesota this year. Along with Margot, Austin Martin would be in line for more action if Buxton needs to miss additional time beyond Monday's matchup. UPDATE: Buxton left the game with right-hip discomfort and is considered day-to-day.
Minnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton went 2-for-4 with a pair of homers and three RBI in a 5-3 loss to the Cleveland Guardians. Buxton hit his 15th homer in the second inning and then knocked his 16th in the eighth. The 30-year-old has been terrific since late June and has managed to stay on the field for most of the year, something he hasn't been able to do much in his career. When he is playing, though, he's a terrific power hitter who can chip in some steals and sometimes manage a decent average. He should be rostered universally at this point but he is still available in some leagues. Be sure to check the waiver wire and make sure he isn't hanging around.
Minnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton is absent from the starting lineup ahead of the second game of Friday's doubleheader against the Cleveland Guardians. This is not shocking given Buxton was dealing with a back issue earlier in the week. The Twins don't want to risk the health of the oft-injured outfielder. Manuel Margot will cover center field and bat seventh versus right-hander Alex Cobb on Friday.
