Minnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton (forearm) is back in center field and is hitting second for the Twins in Friday's series opener against the hosting Detroit Tigers and rookie right-hander Keider Montero. Buxton won't end up missing a game following Thursday's scheduled off day after he was removed from Wednesday's game when he was hit by a pitch on his forearm. X-rays came back negative for the oft-injured 30-year-old, thankfully, and he'll be available for the weekend series in Motown. He only has three hits in 17 at-bats since the start of the second half of the season a week ago, but two of those hits have landed in the seats. Buxton needs to be returned to all starting fantasy lineups. He comes into Friday's contest slashing .278/.331/.502 with an .833 OPS, 11 homers, 40 RBI and six stolen bases in 263 at-bats.
Minnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton (forearm) left Wednesday's series finale early against the visiting Philadelphia Phillies after being hit by a pitch on his right forearm in the seventh inning. Buxton stayed in to run the bases but was replaced in center field the following inning by Austin Martin. It was announced on the telecast that Buxton was pulled due to a right-forearm contusion. It sounds like the oft-injured 30-year-old's injury isn't too serious, and he didn't appear to be in much pain, but the Twins will surely send him for further testing after the ballgame. Before departing, Buxton went 1-for-3 with a double and two strikeouts. If he's forced to miss extended time with this injury, Martin and Manuel Margot could split time in center field. The Twins have an off day on Thursday, so fantasy managers will want to check back on Friday to see if Buxton is available against the Tigers.
Minnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton has been hitting everything that comes his way lately. On Sunday, Buxton went 2-for-5 with two solo home runs in the loss to the Milwaukee Brewers. Fantasy managers that stuck with Buxton are finally being rewarded for their patience. Buxton is slashing .364/.413/.700 over his last month of games. He has earned himself a slot in the three-hole in the lineup, which might stay that way. Who knows how long it will last, but fantasy managers should continue riding out this hot stretch with Buxton.
Minnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton is making his first post-All-Star appearance on Saturday at home versus the Milwaukee Brewers. Buxton will be starting in center field and batting third against right-hander Freddy Peralta. The former first-round draft pick has been enjoying a stellar July, batting .452 with six doubles, one home run, and knocking in four runs to go along with his 1.242 OPS. With the Twins currently in the second Wild-Card spot and some big bats ailing (Carlos Correa, Alex Kirilloff, Royce Lewis), they will rely heavily on Buxton to carry the load until the reinforcements return.
Minnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton continued to produce at the plate in Monday's 8-6 extra-innings win over the White Sox. Buxton went 3-for-5 with a single, a pair of doubles, an RBI, and a strikeout. The 30-year-old is having a great offensive summer and now owns a .282/.332/.496 slash line for the season with nine home runs, 41 runs scored, 38 RBI, and five stolen bases in 259 plate appearances. Fantasy managers know how productive Buxton can be from a fantasy perspective when healthy, and it looks like things are clicking for him in one of baseball's hottest lineups.
