Los Angeles Dodgers right-handed reliever Brusdar Graterol (shoulder) will not begin his throwing program for around another month, but he has vowed that he will pitch in 2025. Graterol also said he feels that he has "a new arm" this spring after having shoulder surgery last November to have his labrum and a ligament repaired. "Thank God it was not rotator cuff," Graterol said. Because the 26-year-old might not make his season debut until the second half, he can be avoided in fantasy, especially after the Dodgers upgraded their bullpen this offseason with the signings of closer candidates Tanner Scott and Kirby Yates. The Venezuelan hurler only made 10 relief appearances in the regular season and playoffs last year for the Blue because of his shoulder issues. In seven outings in the regular season, he allowed two earned runs while striking out seven and walking two.

Los Angeles Dodgers right-handed reliever Brusdar Graterol (shoulder) underwent right-shoulder surgery on his labrum on Thursday and was operated on by Dr. Neal ElAttrache. Graterol is expected to return to the mound in the second half of the 2025 season as a result. The 26-year-old made a return in the postseason to help the Dodgers win the World Series in October, but he missed the vast majority of the 2024 regular season due to right-shoulder issues. The Venezuelan reliever allowed two earned runs while walking two and striking out seven in 7 1/3 innings of work in just seven appearances in his sixth year in the big leagues. He had his best season in 2023, posting a 1.20 ERA with a career-high seven saves in 67 1/3 frames. Graterol will be off the fantasy radar next spring and won't return to LA until after the All-Star break.

Los Angeles Dodgers relief pitcher Brusdar Graterol (shoulder) was placed on the 15-day injured list on Thursday with right shoulder inflammation. Graterol will only be eligible to return if the Dodgers make it deep into the postseason. The 26-year-old missed most of the season due to a previous shoulder injury and made his 2024 debut on August 6. However, shortly after, he hit the IL again due to a hamstring injury. Since returning from that injury on September 10, he tossed seven clean frames with a near-perfect 0.43 WHIP. Through this small stint, Graterol typically pitched in high-leverage situations in the seventh and ninth innings. This is a tough blow to the Dodger bullpen as they approach the preseason with a starting rotation filled with injuries. Fantasy managers should expect Evan Phillips, Alex Vesia, Michael Kopech, and Daniel Hudson to serve as the late-inning options for the Dodgers during October.

Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said on Monday that right-handed reliever Brusdar Graterol (hamstring) is likely to be activated from the 15-day injured list on Wednesday before the game against the visiting Chicago Cubs. Graterol will return to the back end of the Dodgers' bullpen this week after suffering a Grade 3 right-hamstring strain on Aug. 7. He showed how dominant he could be in a late-inning, high-leverage relief role in 2023 when he had a 1.20 ERA, a 0.96 WHIP, a career-high seven saves and 48 strikeouts in 67 1/3 regular-season innings. But injuries have reared their head again in 2024, and Graterol has only thrown one-third of an inning in the big leagues with the Dodgers this year. There's a good chance the Dodgers ease Graterol into their bullpen now that he's healthy again. If Graterol can get back to his 2023 form for the postseason, though, the Dodgers would be very happy.

Updating a previous report, Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts corrected himself on Wednesday in saying that right-handed reliever Brusdar Graterol (hamstring) suffered a Grade 1 right-hamstring strain in his season debut on Tuesday night against the Philadelphia Phillies. Initially, Roberts mentioned it was a Grade 3 strain. The Dodgers remain hopeful that Graterol can help the team again this season, especially since a Grade 1 strain is much less severe than the Grade 3 variety. The 25-year-old was in tears on Tuesday night and was seen in the clubhouse after the game on crutches, but he does still have a shot to return again in 2024, especially with the Dodgers a pretty good bet to be in the postseason. Still, not having Graterol for essentially the entire regular season, is a big blow to LA's bullpen. When healthy, he's one of Roberts' favorite late-inning, high-leverage arms.
