2024 Team Stats

Philadelphia Phillies second baseman Bryson Stott will get the day off on Friday against the visiting Oakland Athletics with left-hander Hogan Harris on the bump. Utility infielder Edmundo Sosa will make the start at second base and will bat sixth for the Phillies against Harris. Stott has hit .244 against both lefties and righties in 2024, but five of his six home runs on the year have come against righties. The 26-year-old second baseman has been a key piece of Philadelphia's stacked lineup this year, mostly for his speed. He's hitting .244 (72-for-295) with six homers, 41 RBI, 21 stolen bases and 44 runs scored. Sosa, while lacking a lot of power at the plate from the right side, could be worth a look as a DFS sleeper in Friday's matchup. He's gone 22-for-69 (.319) with two of his five homers against southpaws in 2024.

With a left-hander on the mound for the visiting Oakland Athletics in the series opener on Friday, Philadelphia Phillies outfielders Brandon Marsh and Johan Rojas will start on the bench. Weston Wilson, who was recalled from the minors, will start in left field and bat seventh, while Cristian Pache will draw into the lineup in center field and hit in the nine-hole against A's left-hander Hogan Harris. Marsh is having a solid year offensively with a .272 average (62-for-228) with nine homers, 35 RBI, and 11 stolen bases in 72 games in 2024, but he's hitting just .149 (7-for-47) with no home runs against lefties. Rojas has done little with the bat, slashing .234/.271/.289 with two homers, but he has helped in deeper fantasy leagues with his 17 stolen bases. Rojas' lack of offensive punch is part of the reason the Phils are looking to trade for better center-field bat this summer.

Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Brandon Marsh played a big role in Thursday's victory against the Los Angeles Dodgers. The veteran went 2-for-4 on the evening with a triple, solo home run and two RBI. Marsh has quietly been having a solid season for the Phillies with a .272 batting average to go along with nine homers, 35 RBI and 11 stolen bases in 228 at-bats. Although he rests against a lot of left-handed pitching, Marsh has been productive when in the lineup. He is not a must-roster, but he has been swinging the bat very well of late and being part of a good offense only helps with his success at the dish. Managers seeking outfield depth should consider Marsh when looking at the waiver wire.

Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Trea Turner showed off his power/speed combination on Thursday, going 2-for-4 with a homer and a stolen base in a 5-1 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers. Turner added a walk, a run scored, and an RBI to round out a solid overall line. The 31-year-old five-category contributor has been on a bender in July, going 16-for-37 (.432) with 10 runs, six homers, 15 RBI, and two steals in nine games. After a rough 2023, Turner has returned to form as one of the best all-around players in fantasy. He should be viewed as a borderline first-round player again.

Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Aaron Nola was solid again on Thursday, throwing six innings of one-run ball and earning the win in a 5-1 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers. Nola allowed four hits and two walks while punching out nine. His knuckle-curve was especially impressive in this one, generating 10 whiffs on 29 pitches. The 31-year-old hasn't been dominant lately, but he has done enough to give his team a good chance to win. While he is prone to the occasional blow-up, his overall numbers remain borderline elite. He has an 11-4 record with a 3.38 ERA,1.03 WHIP, and 116 K in 119 IP, giving fantasy managers exactly what they would hope for from Nola.
