2024 Team Stats

Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Brandon Marsh went 3-for-5 with a home run during their 11-6 victory over the Washington Nationals on Saturday afternoon. Marsh would first hit two singles in the fifth and sixth innings. In the seventh, Marsh would take Orlando Ribalta deep on a three-run shot. This home run scored outfielder Nick Castellanos and second baseman Bryson Stott. After going 0-for-4 with four strikeouts on Thursday, the 27-year-old enjoyed a nice bounce-back showing on Saturday. Last season, Marsh posted a .249/.328/.419 slash line with 16 round-trippers and 19 stolen bases. Fantasy managers should expect Marsh to continue to have a significant role in the Philadelphia lineup this season when facing right-handers, seeing time in left and center field. On Sunday, the Phillies will face a southpaw in Mitchell Parker, which may keep Marsh on the bench.

Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Trea Turner (back) was scratched from Saturday's lineup due to back spasms. As a result, Edmundo Sosa will cover shortstop and bat ninth. Fantasy managers should continue to keep a close eye on his status leading up to their next contest on Sunday. If Turner were to miss an extended period, Sosa would likely see most of the starting opportunities. Last season, Turner posted a .295/.338/.469 slash line with 25 doubles and 21 long balls. He swiped 19 bags and showed a strong eye at the plate as he posted a strong 18.2 percent strikeout rate. Last summer, Sosa posted a .257/.313/.422 line with 12 doubles and seven round-trippers. He will face Washington right-hander Jake Irvin, who held a 4.41 ERA and a 1.20 WHIP last season.

Philadelphia Phillies left-handed pitcher Ranger Suarez (back) completed a successful 26-pitch bullpen session on Saturday. Corey Seidman of NBC Philly reported that the southpaw still has several steps before he's ready to embark on a rehab assignment. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status, but this appears to be a strong start for Suarez as he slowly increases his workload. The Phillies placed Suarez on the 15-day IL due to lower-back stiffness. If the 29-year-old does not face any setbacks, he would be eligible to return later in April. Last season, Suarez posted a 3.46 ERA and a 1.20 WHIP across 150 2/3 innings of work. When the 29-year-old is cleared to return, he will likely replace Taijuan Walker in the starting rotation.

Philadelphia Phillies left-hander Ranger Suarez (back) stayed back in Clearwater, Fla., to start the regular season but is scheduled to get back on the mound for a 25-pitch bullpen session on Saturday. The Phillies officially placed Suarez on the 15-day injured list on Thursday to start the year due to lower-back stiffness that he started dealing with in mid-March. The 29-year-old southpaw could be able to make his 2025 season debut in late April as long as he doesn't suffer any setbacks on an eventual minor-league rehab start. Until then, veteran right-hander Taijuan Walker will occupy a rotation spot in Philadelphia, although he's really only worth using in fantasy lineups in NL-only leagues after an awful 2024 season. When Suarez does return, fantasy managers shouldn't expect another repeat of his strong opening couple months from a year ago.

The Miami Marlins acquired right-hander Tyler Phillips from the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday in exchange for cash considerations, the Marlins announced. In a corresponding move, right-hander Seth Martinez was designated for assignment to make room for Phillips on the 40-man roster. Phillips, 27, will open the year in the big leagues with the Fish after making his major-league debut in 2024 in Philadelphia, where he allowed 28 earned runs on 45 hits (nine homers allowed) while walking seven and striking out 28 in eight appearances (seven starts) covering 36 2/3 innings pitched. He will give the Marlins some extra starting depth with Ryan Weathers (forearm) and Edward Cabrera (finger) starting on the injured list, but Phillips will begin the year as a long reliever out of Miami's bullpen. He can be ignored in fantasy for now.
