Ranger Suarez Throws Seven Shutout Innings

Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Ranger Suarez authored yet another brilliant performance in Friday's victory over the division-rival Miami Marlins, throwing seven scoreless innings with nine strikeouts. Suarez scattered only three hits and walked just two over 97 pitches, earning his seventh win of the campaign and his seventh in a row. The 28-year-old southpaw is enjoying a Cy Young-caliber start to the year, gathering a 1.50 ERA and 0.72 WHIP while punching out 55 and walking eight across 54 frames (eight starts) out of Philly's rotation thus far. Suarez will get the New York Mets next in a home start that's scheduled for Wednesday, when he'll be a locked-in fantasy start in all season-long leagues.

Bryson Stott, Brandon Marsh Resting Against Lefty

Philadelphia Phillies second baseman Bryson Stott and outfielder Brandon Marsh find themselves on the bench for Friday's contest against Miami Marlins left-hander Trevor Rogers. Cristian Pache is in left field for the Phillies and is batting in the eight-hole, while Whit Merrifield will play second base and bat sixth against Rogers. Stott is carrying a .250/.344/.389 slash line with three homers, 19 RBI, eight steals and 19 runs in 108 at-bats so far in 2024. Marsh will be out for the first time since May 1. The 26-year-old is batting .254 (30-for-118) with six homers, 20 RBI, five steals and 13 runs this year. Merrifield is the more realistic DFS sleeper target on Friday. He's never faced Rogers in his career and is hitting .237 (14-for-59) on the year with two homers, four RBI and four stolen bases.

Carlos Estevez Slams Door On Pirates

Los Angeles Angels closer Carlos Estevez nailed down his sixth save of the season in Wednesday's 5-4 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates, slamming the door with two strikeouts in a clean ninth inning. Working on back-to-back days, Estevez continued his encouraging start to the month of May with another scoreless appearance after yielding seven runs with two blown saves across 7 2/3 innings during a rough April. The 31-year-old right-hander owns a dodgy 5.06 ERA through 10 2/3 frames on the season as a whole, but he's remarkably walked zero while striking out 13 over 11 appearances. Estevez is an unrestricted free agent next year, so the 14-23 Halos could opt to move the veteran reliever at the trade deadline later this summer. He'll be an obvious sell-high candidate in fantasy as we get closer to July.

Cristopher Sanchez Pitches Seven Innings In Tuesday's Win

Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Cristopher Sanchez turned in his best start of the season in Tuesday's 10-1 win over the Blue Jays. Sanchez pitched seven innings, allowing one run on six hits and two walks with five strikeouts. The 27-year-old hasn't had the most exciting start to the season, but he is now 2-3 with a 3.22 ERA, an 8.42 K/9 rate, and a 3.72 BB/9 rate in seven starts and 36 1/3 IP. He will look to build on his success in his next scheduled start, which will be a decent matchup at a middling Mets lineup.

Bryce Harper Continues Homer Streak With Grand Slam Tuesday

Philadelphia Phillies first baseman Bryce Harper extended his home-run streak to three consecutive games in Tuesday's 10-1 rout of the Blue Jays. Harper went 3-for-3 with two singles, a grand slam, and a walk. The 31-year-old has started to find his offensive stride and is now slashing .263/.389/.534 with nine HR and 28 RBI in 144 plate appearances. Hopefully, he can continue to extend his hot streak in the coming days.
