Robbie Grossman To Hit Leadoff?

Chicago White Sox outfielder Robbie Grossman will get a chance to serve as the team's leadoff hitter with both Luis Robert Jr. (hip) and Eloy Jimenez (groin) on the injured list. The White Sox brought Grossman up from Triple-A Charlotte on Friday, and he's started two of the three games since. The 34-year-old veteran switch-hitter went 0-for-5 in the leadoff spot on Sunday in the loss to the Kansas City Royals, but manager Pedro Grifol said that Grossman will get more opportunities there. Andrew Benintendi will be the biggest loser fantasy-wise after being dropped to the fifth spot in the order on Sunday. Grossman can be a decent source of runs and on-base percentage now that he'll be hitting leadoff and playing often with Robert and Jimenez sidelined, making him worth a pickup at least in AL-only fantasy leagues.

Braxton Garrett Gives Up Two Runs In Rehab Start

Miami Marlins left-hander Braxton Garrett (shoulder) allowed two earned runs on three hits while walking none and striking out five over 4 1/3 innings in his minor-league rehab start for Triple-A Jacksonville on Sunday. He gave up a solo home run and a double with one out in the fifth inning before being pulled and threw a total of 66 pitches (45 strikes) during the outing. The 26-year-old southpaw's velocity looked good as he attempts to return from a left-shoulder impingement that he was diagnosed with in spring training. Garrett is probably going to need one more rehab start in the minors before the Marlins feel comfortable adding him to their starting rotation, but when he is ready, he'll be a much-needed rotation arm for a team that has already lost Sandy Alcantara and Eury Perez to Tommy John surgeries in 2024.

White Sox Expect Luis Robert Jr. To Miss 6-8 Weeks

The Chicago White Sox's expectation is that outfielder Luis Robert Jr. (hip) will miss six to eight weeks with a Grade 2 right hip-flexor strain that he suffered on Friday night in the game against the Kansas City Royals. A Grade 3 right hip-flexor strain kept Robert out for almost four months back in 2021. While this one isn't as severe, the 26-year-old oft-injured outfielder is going to miss extended time nevertheless. With Eloy Jimenez (groin) also on the injured list for the 1-8 White Sox, it ensures that Dominic Fletcher and Gavin Sheets will continue to see regular at-bats for the Pale Hose. Meanwhile, veterans Kevin Pillar and Robbie Grossman will see extra playing time in Chicago's outfield moving forward. Despite Robert's long-term injury, he should be stashed in an IL spot in most fantasy leagues.

Nick Gordon Collects Two Hits, Three RBI In Sunday's Win

Miami Marlins outfielderNick Gordon had an ideal game Sunday, smacking two hits and driving in three runs in Sunday's 10-3 win over the St. Louis Cardinals. He is slashing .200/.200/.550 in 20 at-bats, good for an OPS of .750 in 2024. Gordon was traded to the Marlins during the offseason. The 28-year-old's performance on Sunday could be a sign of things to come. The Marlins don't have much outfield depth, and that could allow Gordon to grasp an everyday job if he continues to stay hot. Look for Gordon to be in the lineup daily for a lowly Marlins team that has won one game this year.

For the season thus far, Contreras is hitting to a tune of .387/.444/.677 with an OPS of 1.121. Look for Contreras to continue his excellent production from the catcher position, as he is one of the best offensive catchers in baseball.
