Los Angeles Dodgers relief pitcher Dinelson Lamet was designated for assignment on Saturday as the Dodgers recalled right-handed pitcher Gus Varland. Varland struggled in the major leagues last season as he posted a 6.64 ERA and 2.11 WHIP across 20 innings. Lamet pitched only 4 innings for the Dodgers this season to the tune of a 2.08 ERA and 0.92 WHIP. Lamet also tallied a save on April 3 against the San Francisco Giants. As a result, Daniel Hudson, Alex Vesia, and Joe Kelly should be viewed as top options to tally holds, and Evan Phillips should receive a majority of the save opportunities.

Chicago White Sox outfielder Luis Robert Jr. (hip) was placed on the 10-day injured list on Saturday with a right hip flexor strain. The White Sox recalled infielder Lenyn Sosa from Triple-A as a result. Robert posted a .214/.241/.500 stat line with one stolen base over the opening week that was highlighted by a two-home run game against the Detroit Tigers on March 30. 26-year-old Dominic Fletcher will start in center field for Robert today as the White Sox continue their four-game set against the Kansas City Royals. Expect Fletcher to share time with Kevin Pillar in center field and potentially Robbie Grossman as well.

Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Spencer Strider (elbow) reported discomfort in his throwing elbow following his start on Friday against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Strider underwent an MRI on Saturday, and it revealed UCL damage in his right elbow. This is a crushing blow as Strider was often the first starting pitcher taken in fantasy drafts and a favorite to win the NL Cy Young. While Strider will visit Dr. Keith Meister at a later date, it is not promising to know that there is damage in his throwing elbow. Strider may join the list of fellow starting pitchers who are slated to miss the entire 2024 season in Eury Perez and Shane Bieber. Expect the Braves to call up Bryce Elder, Dylan Dodd, or AJ Smith-Shawver from Triple-A to fill his spot in the meantime.

Oakland Athletics outfielder/designated hitter Brent Rooker went 2-4 en route to a 4-0 victory over the Detroit Tigers on Saturday. Rooker launched his second home run in as many games in the top of the first to score Zack Gelof. The 29-year-old then knocked an RBI single in the eighth inning to bring in Gelof once again to increase their lead. Rooker has been swinging an awfully hot bat against the Tigers, tallying 11 total bases in the opening two games of this weekend's series. The left fielder launched 30 round-trippers last season and should be considered an above-average power option in a weak Oakland lineup.

New York Yankees relief pitcher Jonathan Loaisiga is set to have season-ending surgery on his UCL due to a forearm strain. The right-handed pitcher was placed on the 60-day injured list yesterday, and this recent news confirms that he will not pitch again this season. The 29-year-old was also battling shoulder injuries most of last season, which resulted in him only totaling 21 innings over the past two years. Loaisiga was an intriguing pitcher in leagues that value holds, as he was poised to be used as a rotating setup man for closer Clay Holmes. Ian Hamilton should be viewed as the primary eighth-inning option for the Yankees going forward.
