Framber Valdez Gets Tough No-Decision

Houston Astros starting pitcher Framber Valdez earned a tough no-decision in a dominant outing against the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday. Valdez tossed 7 2/3 innings of scoreless ball and allowed six hits with five strikeouts and no walks. Unfortunately for Valdez, the Astros bullpen blew all his hard work and he was unable to receive a victory. Since 2020, Valdez has been one of the most consistent arms in the game and he now owns a 2.19 ERA in two starts this season. Valdez will look to pick up a victory in his next start against the Kansas City Royals next week.

Zac Gallen Posts Quality Start

Arizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher Zac Gallen put together a strong second start of the season in Tuesday's victory against the New York Yankees. Gallen earned a quality start over six innings by allowing three hits with zero runs, three walks and six strikeouts. Gallen held his own in this contest, but the he does have five walks on the season and that is a bit worrisome with him coming off a big workload in 2023. Regardless, Gallen has performed well for managers and is 2-0 with a 0.82 ERA. Next up will be a date versus the Colorado Rockies in a very favorable matchup.

Shane Bieber Turns In Another Stellar Start Tuesday

Cleveland Guardians starting pitcher Shane Bieber continued his hot start in Tuesday's 5-2 win over the Mariners. The 28-year-old improved to 2-0, tossing six scoreless innings with six hits, no walks, and nine strikeouts. Bieber has rebounded nicely in 2024 after a lackluster 2023 and has yet to allow a run with an impressive 20 strikeouts through his first two starts. He should have plenty of opportunity to put up another big strikeout total in his next projected start against the White Sox.

Ryan Helsley Earns Save Tuesday

St. Louis Cardinals relief pitcher Ryan Helsley earned his first save of the season in Tuesday's 5-2 win over the Padres. Helsley came in to pitch the bottom of the ninth inning up by three. He allowed a leadoff single but got two strikeouts and a pop-out to end the game. The 29-year-old has now turned in two consecutive clean innings after a rough first outing, bringing his ERA to 6.00 with four strikeouts in three innings of work. Fantasy managers should keep an eye out for any further developments, as Giovanny Gallegos has closing experience, but Helsley should be the first choice for save opportunities as long as he continues to trend in the right direction.

He got the first out on a strikeout, allowed a single, got the second out on a groundout, and ended the game with another strikeout.
