Gunnar Henderson Singles In Loss To Twins

Baltimore Orioles shortstop Gunnar Henderson went 1-for-5 with a single in his team's 5-2 loss to the Minnesota Twins. The Alabama native has had some trouble getting going this season, but he's collected at least one hit in 11 of 12 contests, including nine in a row before Tuesday's outing. It's an encouraging stretch, though he's only recorded one extra-base hit since the calendar turned to May (double). After getting moved out of the leadoff spot about a month ago, he found himself back there against the Twins on Thursday. While the former second-round pick hasn't been downright dreadful, he's still not performing like a first-round pick in fantasy -- a price many managers paid this offseason. A silver lining is that he's hitting the ball harder on average thus far (94.4 MPH average exit velocity), and could still be shaking off the rust of his limited spring training.

Otto Kemp Making Strong Case For MLB Promotion

Philadelphia Phillies infield prospect Otto Kemp has continued to hit very well at Triple-A and is making a strong case for an early-season MLB promotion. Through his first 35 games of the Triple-A regular season, Kemp has posted an impressive .331/.423/.662 slash line with 14 doubles, one triple, and 10 long balls. He is the only player with at least 25 extra-base hits at any level of the minor leagues. Kemp has also swiped five bags but held a modest 44:15 K:BB. During his first taste of Triple-A action last summer, the No. 24-ranked prospect in the system held an underwhelming .200/.333/.244 slash line with just two doubles across 13 games. Fantasy managers should continue to keep an eye on his production at Lehigh Valley, as he could push for an earlier-than-expected MLB debut. Given his power upside, he would be worth adding in standard leagues when he gets the call.

Eduardo Tait Heating Up At Low-A

Philadelphia Phillies catching prospect Eduardo Tait is beginning to heat up at Low-A. On Thursday, the No. 4-ranked prospect in the system went 3-for-5 with a triple and an RBI. Over his last nine contests, the 18-year-old backstop has held an impressive .308/.317/.590 slash line with three doubles, one triple, and two long balls. During this stretch, Tait has tallied eight RBI and held a 10:1 K:BB. Through the first 24 games of the Low-A regular season, the No. 90-ranked prospect in the sport on MLB.com held a solid .265/.315/.531 slash line. Given his current production, fantasy managers should expect Tait to be in contention to reach High-A in the coming weeks. While he remains several seasons away from his MLB debut, he could develop into one of the top catching prospects in the sport.

Marcell Ozuna Collects Two Hits In Victory

Atlanta Braves designated hitter Marcell Ozuna went 2-for-4 with two singles in Thursday's 5-4 win over the Cincinnati Reds. The veteran also struck out twice. Ozuna is still getting on base at a strong clip, but he's slowed down power-wise over the last week or so, collecting just one extra-base hit in his previous nine games. While he doesn't boast the same gaudy pace he was on in 2024, the elite quality of contact metrics remains, as he bolsters well-above-average marks in that regard. The 34-year-old holds an absurd 20.8% walk rate -- the best in the league -- and has lowered his strikeout percentage to a palatable 21.5% (32:31 K:BB ratio). Look for the power to tick back up again soon.

Spencer Strider To Throw Bullpen On Saturday

Atlanta Braves right-hander Spencer Strider (hamstring) will throw another bullpen session on Saturday, and manager Brian Snitker said the team will then decide if Strider will need to go on a minor-league rehab assignment. Strider received a platelet-rich plasma injection after suffering a right-hamstring strain on April 21, and it helped him speed up the process of feeling back to full strength. The 26-year-old threw his first bullpen on Wednesday. If he comes out of Saturday's session feeling good, it's possible he'll skip a rehab assignment and rejoin Atlanta's starting rotation next week. A 20-game winner in 2023, Strider made just two starts in 2024 before undergoing an internal-brace procedure on his right elbow that caused him to get a late start this season for Atlanta. When he's back in action in the big leagues, he'll be an immediate must-start in fantasy.
