Cincinnati Reds manager Terry Francona said the team is trying to buy outfielder Austin Hays' hamstring some time after his MRI exam showed some minor results. The Reds are "exploring" not having Hays go on the injured list and seeing how his symptoms are. Hays is out of the lineup for the first game of a doubleheader on Wednesday against the division-rival St. Louis Cardinals, with prospect Tyler Callihan taking his place in left field and batting ninth against Cardinals right-hander Miles Mikolas in his major-league debut. For now, fantasy managers should consider the 29-year-old Hays to be day-to-day for now, but he could land on the IL if he's unable to play by the end of the weekend series against the visiting Washington Nationals. It would be bad timing for Hays to land on the IL, as he's been one of the hottest hitters early on, slashing .365/.431/.712 with five homers and 13 RBI in his 52 at-bats for the Reds.

New York Mets outfield prospect Carson Benge has been heating up at the plate at High-A Brooklyn. Over his last five contests, Benge has held a .500/.600/.750 slash line with two doubles, one home run, four RBI, and a stolen base. Prior to this surge, Benge went 1-for-22 over his last five contests. Through his first 17 games at the High-A level, the former 19th overall pick in last year's draft has posted a strong .292/.403/.415 slash line with five doubles, one home run, and a 17:12 K:BB. Benge is currently considered the No. 3-best prospect in the New York system and the No. 98-ranked prospect in the sport on MLB Pipeline. If Benge continues to produce at High-A, the Oklahoma State product should contend for an early promotion to Double-A.

The Cincinnati Reds announced on Wednesday that they placed infielder Jeimer Candelario (spine) on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to April 28) with a lumbar spine strain and recalled infielder Tyler Callihan from Triple-A Louisville in a corresponding move. This could help explain why the 31-year-old veteran switch-hitter was off to such a bad start in 2025 with a .113/.198/.213 slash line and only two home runs in his first 80 at-bats of the season. Before the injury, Candelario was seeing more time on the bench due to his offensive struggles early on. Hopefully for Candelario's fantasy managers, he'll be more productive when he returns from the IL and returns to a regular role for the Reds. For the time being, though, Spencer Steer will see most of the work at first base, with the hot-hitting Noelvi Marte manning the hot corner with Christian Encarnacion-Strand (back) also out.

The Cincinnati Reds have officially promoted right-handed pitching prospect Chase Petty to the MLB roster ahead of his MLB debut on Wednesday evening against the St. Louis Cardinals. Petty is slated to start the second half of Wednesday's doubleheader. The 22-year-old has enjoyed a strong start to the Triple-A campaign and is being rewarded with an early MLB debut. Through his first 23 innings at Triple-A Louisville, Petty has held a 3.52 ERA with a 1.30 WHIP. He has struck out 27 batters and served up just nine free passes. In his last start, Petty tossed six shutout innings and tallied seven punchouts against the Iowa Cubs. He is worth a look in deeper NL-only formats facing the St. Louis Cardinals. However, he will likely be optioned back to Triple-A after this start and should not be targeted in shallow formats.

The Kansas City Royals have officially promoted left-handed pitching prospect Noah Cameron from Triple-A Omaha ahead of his MLB debut on Wednesday. Cameron is slated to fill in for the injured Cole Ragans (groin) during Wednesday's contest against the Tampa Bay Rays. Cameron has enjoyed a solid start to the Triple-A regular season. Through his first 22 1/3 innings of work, the Central Arkansas product has held a 3.22 ERA with a strong 1.03 WHIP. He has struck out 27 batters and shown strong command as he has served up eight free passes. Last season at Triple-A, the southpaw posted an impressive 2.32 ERA with a 1.01 WHIP across 54 1/3 innings of work. Given his steady production at Triple-A, fantasy managers should consider adding Cameron as a streaming option on Wednesday ahead of his outing against the Rays.
