Jake Fraley Scratched From Monday's Lineup

Cincinnati Reds outfielder Jake Fraley (undisclosed) was scratched from Monday's lineup with an undisclosed injury. Instead, Blake Dunn will get the nod in right field. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status as the team did not provide any information on why he was removed from the starting nine. Over his last four games, Fraley has gone 0-for-12 at the plate with a 2:3 K:BB and two stolen bases. However, before this recent slump, the 29-year-old enjoyed a hot start to the campaign, holding a .345/.472/.621 slash line with two doubles, two home runs, and an 8:7 K:BB. If Fraley were to miss an extended period of time, fantasy managers should expect Dunn, Austin Hays, and Santiago Espinal to share time in right field.

Jeremy Pena Hitting Leadoff Again On Monday

Houston Astros shortstop Jeremy Pena is batting leadoff again for Monday's series opener against the visiting Detroit Tigers and right-hander Jack Flaherty at Daikin Park. Outfielder Jose Altuve is in the two-hole after he was rested in Sunday's series finale against the Kansas City Royals. It's the first time Altuve hasn't led off since June of 2023. It will be the second straight start out of the leadoff spot for Pena, who is slashing .255/.327/.388 with three home runs, 11 RBI, five stolen bases and 13 runs scored on the year. The Dominican infielder recently snapped a 14-game hitting streak in which he went 17-for-52 (.327) with a homer, six RBI and three stolen bases. Despite the fact that Pena is hitting just .111 in nine career at-bats against Flaherty, he should be in starting single-year fantasy lineups while batting leadoff again on Monday.

Jordan Westburg Placed On Injured List

The Baltimore Orioles have placed infielder Jordan Westburg (hamstring) on the injured list with a hamstring injury. The team initially noted that he was "day-to-day." However, the infielder has not progressed well and will now miss at least a few weeks of action. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status while he is sidelined. Over his last six games, the 26-year-old has begun to heat up at the plate, holding a .333/.333/.500 slash line with two doubles and one triple. Prior to this surge, Westburg held a modest .176/.243/.353 line with four long balls and five RBI over his first 17 games of the campaign. Under the hood, Westburg has generated a strong 12.9 percent barrel rate with a .462 xSLG, which suggests he should continue to see positive regression when he returns. While he is sidelined, Ramon Urias will likely cover the hot corner in most games.

Nick Kurtz Out Against A Southpaw

Athletics first base prospect Nick Kurtz is starting Monday's series opener against the division-rival Texas Rangers on the bench at Globe Life Field against Rangers left-hander Patrick Corbin. With Kurtz on the bench, Tyler Soderstrom will start at first base and bat third, with Brent Rooker as the designated hitter and batting second, and Miguel Andujar in left field and hitting fifth for the A's. Kurtz will occasionally be rested by the A's against southpaws, but he should still be considered an everyday player as he destroyed minor-league pitching to begin the 2025 season. In his first five major-league games since being called up last week, Kurtz has gone 4-for-16 with three RBI, no walks and seven strikeouts. Andujar could be a DFS sleeper consideration due to the fact he's hit .333 with a homer and two RBI in 12 career at-bats against Corbin.

Josh Jung Back In Action On Monday

Texas Rangers third baseman Josh Jung (finger) is back at third base and is hitting sixth in Monday's series opener against the division-rival Athletics and left-hander J.P. Sears at Globe Life Field. Jung received a cut on his index finger in Sunday's series finale against the San Francisco Giants, but it was nothing serious and he'll be back on the field a day later. Fantasy managers will want to get the oft-injured third baseman back into their starting lineups for the week. He's in the midst of a modest five-game hitting streak in which he's gone 6-for-17 with a home run, double, RBI, stolen base and run scored in 18 plate appearances. Jung has been strong for the Rangers and fantasy managers so far in 2025, too, hitting .282 (20-for-71) with two homers and seven RBI. Jung has also hit .308 in 13 career at-bats against Sears.
