Colorado Rockies infielder/outfielder Kris Bryant (back) will have "follow-up scans" on his back after visiting with Dr. Robert Watkins on Monday, according to general manager Bill Schmidt. The result of Bryant's follow-up scans will guide the team through the next steps of Bryant's hopeful return. Bryant made it only 11 games with the Rockies in 2025 before landing on the 10-day injured list earlier this month with lumbar degenerative disc disease. The 33-year-old has essentially been injured ever since he joined the Rockies for the 2022 season and hasn't played in more than 80 games in a single year since then. He started out this year going 6-for-39 (.154) with no homers, two doubles, an RBI, two walks and 13 strikeouts before getting hurt yet again. At this point, the four-time All-Star and former MVP could be looking at a career-ending injury if he cannot bounce back and return at some point this year.

The Baltimore Orioles placed catcher Gary Sanchez (wrist) on the 10-day injured list on Monday with right-wrist inflammation and selected the contract of catcher Maverick Handley from Triple-A Norfolk in a corresponding move, according to MASN's Roch Kubatko. With Sanchez going on the shelf, Handley will provide catching depth for the O's behind starter Adley Rutschman for the time being. Sanchez has not been on the fantasy radar, even in two-catcher leagues, in 2025. The veteran Dominican backstop went 0-for-5 with three strikeouts over the weekend in two games against the Detroit Tigers and has gone 3-for-30 with four RBI, a run scored, one walk and 12 strikeouts in his first 12 games for the O's in 2025. The two-time All-Star will not have much fantasy appeal in Baltimore once he returns unless Rutschman misses time with an injury.

Baltimore Orioles starting pitcher Tomoyuki Sugano entered this game with the lowest strikeout percentage of any qualified starting pitcher. However, Sugano had his swing-and-miss stuff going during Monday's game against the New York Yankees. The right-hander tossed five shutout innings, allowing five hits, and striking out a career-high eight batters in the win. The 35-year-old has been a viable option posting a 3.00 ERA, 1.15 WHIP, and 17/6 K/BB ratio across six starts this season. His next start will come against the Kansas City Royals at home. Sugano is worth a look as a deep league or AL-only option heading into that game.

Baltimore Orioles manager Brandon Hyde said that right-handed reliever Andrew Kittredge (knee) will throw a live batting practice session on Wednesday. It will be the first time that Kittredge will face live hitters since having arthroscopic surgery on his left knee during spring training in March. The 35-year-old veteran reliever began the 2025 season on the 15-day injured list but is making good progress and could be ready to come off the IL for his season debut in May. When healthy, Kittredge could develop into a key late-inning setup man for the Orioles in front of closer Felix Bautista. If he's able to get through a couple live batting practice sessions, Kittredge should be cleared for a minor-league rehab assignment sooner than later. He has yet to pitch in 2025 for Baltimore but was an All-Star in 2021 with the Rays and had a 2.80 ERA with 67 strikeouts in 70 2/3 frames a year ago.

Pittsburgh Pirates pitching prospect Bubba Chandler tossed five shutout innings in his latest start at Triple-A Indianapolis on Friday, allowing just one hit and no walks while striking out four. Worth noting, the righty got up to 70 pitches, and is about as stretched out as he needs to be in order to get that call to the majors. Pittsburgh's current fifth man in the rotation, reliever-turned-starter Carmen Mlodzinski, has allowed three or more earned runs in four of his five starts and hasn't gone longer than five innings in any of them. Chandler owns a 1.33 ERA, 0.64 WHIP, and a 28.4 percent K-BB%, and although Triple-A competition is not the same as the major leagues, MLB's 14th-ranked prospect would be an upgrade for the Pirates' rotation. Those in need of pitching help with an available roster spot should consider stashing the 6-foot-3 hurler ahead of his eventual call-up, which is expected to happen by the end of May.
