Tyler Glasnow Will Start On Sunday Against Pirates

Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Tyler Glasnow (leg) has officially been cleared to make his next start on Sunday against the visiting Pittsburgh Pirates at Dodger Stadium. As a precaution, the Dodgers removed Glasnow from his last start on Sunday against the Texas Rangers due to cramping in his right leg. The hard-throwing 31-year-old is fine after resting up this week and shouldn't be limited in any way when he takes the mound this weekend in L.A. in a strong matchup against the Bucs. He'll enter that contest with a 1-0 record this year to go with a 3.71 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, 23 strikeouts and 10 walks in 17 innings over his four starts. Glasnow hasn't been as sharp as his fantasy managers would have hoped in terms of control, but there's nothing else to really complain about. Get him back in your starting lineups on Sunday.

Francisco Alvarez Reinstated From Injured List, Starting On Friday

The New York Mets announced on Friday that they have reinstated catcher Francisco Alvarez (hand) from the 10-day injured list and optioned catcher Hayden Senger to Triple-A Syracuse in a corresponding move. Alvarez is making his 2025 debut for the Mets on Friday against the division-rival Washington Nationals and right-hander Jake Irvin, doing the catching and batting seventh. The 23-year-old backstop is getting a late start to the 2025 season after having surgery to fix a fractured hamate bone in his left hand. In his 10 minor-league rehab games, Alvarez went 7-for-39 at the plate with one home run. The Venezuelan catcher also missed extended time due to injuries in 2024 and hit just 11 home runs, but he clubbed a career-high 25 round-trippers and drove in 63 in 2023 in his first full big-league season. Alvarez is New York's starting catcher with high-end power at the catching position.

Merrill Kelly To Make His Next Start On Saturday

Arizona Diamondbacks right-hander Merrill Kelly (leg) has been cleared to toe the rubber on Saturday against the visiting Atlanta Braves at Chase Field. Cramping in Kelly's right leg caused him to be lifted in the sixth inning of his last start on Easter Sunday in Chicago against the Cubs, but he's been cleared to take his next turn through the D-backs' starting rotation this weekend in a plus matchup against a struggling Braves offense. The 36-year-old veteran pitcher allowed a whopping nine earned runs in 3 2/3 innings of work in his second start of the year on April 3 at the New York Yankees, but since that rough outing, he's bounced back nicely. He has allowed four earned runs while walking four and fanning 18 in 17 2/3 innings in his last three starts and will look to keep that going on Saturday. Fantasy managers should reinsert Kelly into their starting lineups this weekend.

Jeffrey Springs Cleared To Start On Saturday Against White Sox

Athletics left-hander Jeffrey Springs (hamstring) has been cleared to make his next start on Saturday in Sacramento against the visiting Chicago White Sox. Springs' last start on Sunday against the Milwaukee Brewers was cut short in the third inning when he dealt with tightness in his right hamstring. The injury turned out to be nothing serious for the 32-year-old veteran southpaw, though, so he won't need to miss a turn through the A's rotation. It hasn't been the best start for Springs in his first year with the A's, as he's gone 3-2 with a 5.64 ERA (5.17 FIP) and 1.66 WHIP with 23 strikeouts and 14 walks over his first five starts covering 22 1/3 frames. Since going six shutout innings with a season-high nine K's in his first start in 2025 against Seattle, Springs has allowed at least three earned runs in each of his last four starts. It hasn't been pretty, but he'll be worth a look as a streamer in fantasy on Saturday against Chicago.

Ryan Jeffers To See More Work Behind The Plate

The Minnesota Twins have essentially split the catching duties down the middle with Ryan Jeffers (152 starts) and Christian Vazquez (172) starts the last two seasons, but with Vazquez going 5-for-33 (.152) early on this year, the Twins are planning to give more playing time to Jeffers moving forward. Before Vazquez started a day game on Thursday, Jeffers had started three straight games and six times in seven games. "RJ is going to find a few more at-bats in the near term," manager Rocco Baldelli said. "See if we can get the offense going more than we've seen." Jeffers also broke out of his season-opening slump on Wednesday by going 3-for-5 with a double. He's now hitting .254 with no homers in his first 17 games, but his .682 OPS is better than Vazquez's weak .467 mark. Jeffers' expected metrics show he has gotten a bit unlucky. Defense is a different story, but the Twins are prioritizing offense right now, and Jeffers has the advantage.
