Kansas City Royals pitcher Kris Bubic had a solid final spring start in Tuesday's 3-1 win against the Rangers. Bubic pitched five innings, allowing one run on five hits and a walk with eight strikeouts on 81 pitches. The 27-year-old had an excellent 2024 season out of the bullpen and earned the fifth rotation spot for the Royals this spring, going 2-1 with a 5.40 ERA, a 1.38 WHIP, and 25 strikeouts in 21 2/3 IP. The spring statline doesn't instill a ton of confidence, but Bubic did have some fantasy appeal as a prospect several seasons ago and showed his skills last season. He may be worth keeping an eye on for fantasy managers in deep leagues to start the season. He will also be eligible as a relief pitcher, giving him some added appeal in points leagues.

Detroit Tigers outfielder Justyn-Henry Malloy left one final positive impression in Tuesday's 4-3 exhibition loss to the Giants, going 1-for-4 with a solo home run. The 25-year-old clubbed a Jordan Hicks breaking ball over the center-field wall for his first long ball of the spring. Malloy ended the spring with a strong .309 batting average, five walks, and 12 strikeouts in 55 at-bats. He was not as impressive in his first big-league season in 2024, slashing .203/.291/.366 with eight HR and 21 RBI in 230 plate appearances. He is still competing for one of the final Opening Day roster spots for the Tigers. Even if he were to make the team, fantasy managers may want to see if he can carry his spring success into the regular season before trusting him.

Detroit Tigers pitching prospect Jackson Jobe allowed two earned runs on three hits and two walks while striking out five batters over four innings of work in Tuesday's 4-3 exhibition loss to the Giants. Jobe finishes the spring with a 3.86 ERA and a 6:13 BB:K over 16 1/3 IP, earning him a spot in the Tigers' starting rotation to open the 2025 season. The former first-rounder will likely take on the Mariners in Seattle for his first MLB start. Although he's yet to show it in his brief time in the majors, the righty carried a 27.0 percent strikeout rate in the minors, so there is solid strikeout potential here. The 22-year-old is available at the end of drafts for those who have yet to make their selections, however, it should be noted that he currently only carries relief pitcher (RP) eligibility on Yahoo.

The Houston Astros announced Tuesday that they unconditionally released first baseman Jon Singleton after he cleared waivers, per the Houston Chronicle's Matt Kawahara. The 33-year-old saw 405 plate appearances with the Astros in 2024, slashing .234/.321/.386 with 13 home runs and 42 RBI. However, he slashed just .171/.239/.195 in 46 Grapefruit League plate appearances. Singleton will now need to look elsewhere for another opportunity to latch on with an organization, although all 29 other clubs did have an opportunity to claim Singleton during his waiver process and declined to do so.

Houston Astros manager Joe Espada said Tuesday that starting pitcher Luis Garcia (elbow) will seek a second opinion on his sore elbow after visiting with doctors, per the Houston Chronicle's Matt Kawahara. The 28-year-old had Tommy John surgery in May of 2023 and has encountered multiple setbacks in his recovery. He was scheduled to throw a live batting practice session last Thursday, but was shut down. The various setbacks, coupled with the desire to see multiple doctors, may indicate even more missed time to come for Garcia. Fantasy managers should wait until definitive news comes out, but they should not plan on factoring Garcia into their roster plans.
