Corbin Carroll Removed From Sunday's Game

Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Corbin Carroll (back) was removed from Sunday's spring training contest due to lower-back tightness. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status over the next few days as this move could have been precautionary. Before exiting the contest, Carroll went 0-for-2 at the plate with a strikeout. During the early part of spring training, the former top prospect has been flashed elite power as he has gone deep three times and held a 1.821 OPS across five games. The 24 year-old has noted that he focused on continuing to improve the swing adjustments he made during the second half of the 2024 season. After the Midsummer classic last season, Carroll carried an elite .919 OPS which was a significant increase compared to the .635 OPS he held in the first-half. When healthy, fantasy managers should view Carroll as an elite five-category contributor in all formats with the upside to showcase career-high power production.

Chris Martin Makes Spring Debut On Sunday

Texas Rangers relief pitcher Chris Martin (illness) made his spring debut on Sunday afternoon against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Martin was battling the flu during the early part of camp. In this contest, the 38-year-old tossed a clean frame. He tallied one punchout and did not allow a baserunner. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status during camp as he could contend for save opportunities in the Texas bullpen that lacks a proven closer. Last season, Martin logged 44 1/3 innings with the Boston Red Sox. He tallied 50 strikeouts and held a 3.45 ERA with a 1.13 WHIP. He generated an elite 4.1 percent barrel rate and a 35.1 percent hard-hit rate, which were both well above the average marks. He also showed elite command, serving up walks at a near-perfect 1.7 percent rate. Robert Garcia (forearm) and Jacob Webb are other candidates to see save opportunities in Texas.

Trevor Megill Makes Spring Debut

Milwaukee Brewers relief pitcher Trevor Megill (undisclosed) made his spring training debut on Friday against the San Francisco Giants. Megill logged one inning of work and allowed one earned run and one hit. He tallied one punchout and did serve up a free pass. The 31-year-old has been limited in camp due to an undisclosed injury. However, seeing him return to game action early in camp suggests the injury is not serious and will not put him in danger of missing Opening Day. Earlier in the offseason, the Brewers shipped their closer, Devin Williams, to the Yankees, which should open the door for Megill to see the vast majority of save opportunities. When Williams missed time last season, Megill operated as the top closer. Across 46 1/3 innings of work, Megill held a 2.72 ERA with a 1.01 WHIP. He tallied 21 saves with 50 strikeouts. He generated a strong .209 xBA and a 2.83 xERA. Fantasy managers should view him as a solid relief pitcher in all formats as he should carry 20+ save upside pitching for the Brewers.

Thomas Pannone Exits With Forearm Injury

Milwaukee Brewers right-handed pitcher Thomas Pannone (forearm) exited Sunday's spring training contest early with a forearm injury. He is set to undergo further evaluation. Earlier in the offseason, Pannone inked a minor-league deal with Milwaukee in hopes of competing for a job on the 40-man roster. The 30-year-old last appeared in the majors during the 2023 with the Brewers but logged only two 2/3 innings. He spent the first two seasons of his MLB career with the Toronto Blue Jays. He spent the 2024 campaign pitching entirely at Triple-A for the Iowa Cubs and the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders. Across 152 1/3 total frames, the right-hander posted a 3.54 ERA with a 1.29 WHIP. When he is cleared for action, Pannone will compete for a depth role on the pitching staff.

Bobby Miller Out Of Concussion Protocol

Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Bobby Miller (head) is out of concussion protocol and has resumed throwing bullpen sessions. The 25-year-old was struck by a comebacker in their first spring training contest. However, it appears Miller is nearing a return to action and has not faced any setbacks. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status as he could be cleared to return to the Cactus League in the coming days. After an impressive rookie campaign, the young right-hander took a step back last season as he held an 8.52 ERA with a 1.77 WHIP across 56 innings of work. In 2023, Miller posted a promising 3.76 ERA with a 1.10 WHIP and 119 punchouts across 124 1/3 innings. Miller will likely continue to compete for a role at the back of the Dodgers rotation. However, given their current starting pitching depth, he may need to open the season at Triple-A.
