Milwaukee Brewers left-hander DL Hall's (knee) minor-league rehab start with Triple-A Nashville on Thursday was expected to be his final one before rejoining the Brewers in the big leagues. It's great news for Milwaukee's pitching staff, but for fantasy purposes, it remains to be seen what kind of role he'll have now that right-hander Aaron Civale was added to the starting rotation this week. The 25-year-old southpaw gave up three unearned runs in his final rehab start on the Fourth of July and he'll most likely be used in relief for Milwaukee when he's officially reinstated. The Brewers will most likely continue to build up his arm in a bulk-relief role in order to have him as a starting option in the postseason. Besides, he had a 7.71 ERA and 2.26 WHIP with 13 K's and 10 walks in his four starts for the Brew Crew earlier this year before getting hurt.

Milwaukee Brewers right-hander Bryse Wilson appears to be the odd man out in Milwaukee's starting rotation after the club acquired right-hander Aaron Civale from the Tampa Bay Rays this week. Civale will make his team debut on Friday against the Dodgers in Los Angeles, while Wilson will be relegated to the bullpen for the time being, according to manager Pat Murphy. The 26-year-old hurler currently has a 4.27 ERA and 1.28 WHIP on the year in 20 appearances (nine starts) while striking out only 62 hitters in 78 innings of work. Wilson has allowed a lot of hard contact this year but has been slightly better out of the bullpen, so that's where he'll head for the time being. He was already a pretty weak streaming option in deep-mixed leagues before the change, so now he belongs on the waiver wire in all mixed fantasy formats.

Right-hander Aaron Civale will make his debut with the Milwaukee Brewers on Friday on the road against the Los Angeles Dodgers, according to manager Pat Murphy. Civale will be followed by right-hander Freddy Peralta on Saturday and left-hander Dallas Keuchel on Sunday in the series in LA. Right-hander Bryse Wilson will pitch out of the bullpen for the time being after Milwaukee acquired Civale from the Tampa Bay Rays earlier this week. The 29-year-old Civale won't be a recommended fantasy streamer on the road against the Dodgers on Friday. He's currently 2-6 with a 5.07 ERA and 1.38 WHIP with 84 K's in 87 innings over his 17 starts in 2024. The underlying numbers show that Civale has a shot to be better in the second half, though, especially with a better offense backing him.

Chicago White Sox shortstop prospect Brooks Baldwin went 2-for-5 in his first Triple-A game on Thursday with a single and home run. This is a great sign, as the 23-year-old wasted no time to make an impact at the top level of the minors. With Double-A Birmingham, the number 24 ranked prospect in the White Sox system posted an excellent .322/.386/.441 slash line with six home runs, 37 RBI, and 16 swiped bags in 74 games earlier this season. Baldwin was selected in the 12th round of the 2022 MLB Draft and is progressing through the minor leagues very quickly. Due to his current pace, Baldwin should see a majority of next season in the major leagues.

Pittsburgh Pirates second base prospect Termarr Johnson went 2-for-5 with a home run on Thursday to extend his current hitting streak to eight games. In this span, the top prospect in the Steel City has posted a stellar .382/.488/.500 slash line with six RBI and 13 total hits. Before this stretch, Johnson was riding a poor.185 AVG in his previous seven games. Overall, through his second look at High-A pitching, the former fourth overall pick has lacked consistency with a .237/.392/.378 line with eight home runs, 34 RBI, 14 swiped bags, and a 60:74 BB:K ratio. Johnson is considered the 76th-best prospect in baseball on MLB.com and should reach the majors next summer.
