Braves Call Up Eli White

The Atlanta Braves selected the contract of outfielder Eli White from Triple-A Gwinnett on Friday and optioned outfielder Forrest Wall to Gwinnett in a corresponding move. To make room on the 40-man roster, the team moved left-hander Ray Kerr (elbow) to the 60-day injured list. White had a 6-for-7 game with two doubles, two home runs and seven RBI down on the farm this week and is hitting .289 with seven home runs, and an .848 OPS in 54 games at Gwinnett. However, he's a .181 career hitter with nine home runs, 28 RBI and 17 stolen bases in parts of four major-league seasons with the Braves and Texas Rangers. White went 1-for-14 (.071) with two walks and seven strikeouts with Atlanta in 2023 and will be a reserve outfielder in the big leagues in 2024 for however long he sticks around.

Eddie Rosario Returns To Atlanta

After being designated for assignment and subsequently released by the Washington Nationals this week, veteran outfielder Eddie Rosario signed a minor-league deal to return to the Atlanta Braves on Friday. Rosario is being assigned to Triple-A Gwinnett and will join the Stripers on Friday. The 32-year-old Puerto Rican outfielder just never got things going with the Nats, slashing .183/.226/.329 with seven home runs, 26 RBI, eight stolen bases and 26 runs scored in 219 at-bats. Rosario hit .255 (122-for-478) with 21 home runs and 74 RBI last year for Atlanta in 142 games, though, so it's not a big surprise they'd be interested in a reunion, especially with Ronald Acuna Jr. (knee) out for the year and Michael Harris II (hamstring) on the injured list. Rosario should resurface in the big leagues in the second half in Atlanta as a platoon outfield option for the Braves against right-handers.

Orlando Arcia Back In Braves Lineup

Atlanta Braves shortstop Orlando Arcia (tooth) is returning to the team's starting lineup on Friday for the series opener against the visiting division-rival Philadelphia Phillies. Arcia missed the team's last three games due to an abscessed tooth, but it appears that he got the issue cleared up and is feeling good enough to play to start the weekend. His return will push Zack Short back to the bench for the Braves. The 29-year-old Arcia hasn't really even helped fantasy managers in NL-only leagues all that much in 2024, as he's slashing a weak .211/.245/.337 with a .582 OPS, six home runs, 23 RBI and 24 runs scored in 285 at-bats. He'll be starting at shortstop on Friday and will hit in the eight-hole against Phillies right-hander Aaron Nola. Another reason to keep Arcia benched: He's hitting .150 with a .390 OPS with an RBI in 20 career at-bats against Nola.

Mike Yastrzemski Sitting Out On Friday

San Francisco Giants outfielder Mike Yastrzemski (elbow) is out of the team's starting lineup for Friday's series opener against the hosting Cleveland Guardians. Yastrzemski was hit by a pitch on his elbow in the Fourth of July game on Thursday. However, X-rays came back negative, so the 33-year-old left-handed hitter should be considered day-to-day for now. Check back to see if he rejoins the starting lineup of the second game of the series on Saturday. With Yaz sidelined, Michael Conforto, Heliot Ramos and Luis Matos will start across the outfield for the Giants from left to right, respectively, against Guardians right-hander Tanner Bibee. When healthy, Yastrzemski can provide modest power for fantasy managers in deep-mixed leagues against right-handed pitching. He's currently sporting a .722 OPS with seven homers and 28 RBI in 195 at-bats on the year.

Jake Fraley Placed On Family Medical Emergency List

The Cincinnati Reds placed outfielder Jake Fraley on the family medical emergency list on Friday and called up first baseman Edwin Rios from the minors in a corresponding move. The Reds also placed catcher Luke Maile (back) on the 10-day injured list with a herniated disc in his back and recalled catcher Austin Wynns from Triple-A Louisville in a corresponding move. Fraley could miss anywhere from the next three to seven days, so fantasy managers must adjust accordingly moving forward. Nick Martini is starting in left field and batting fifth on Friday, while Will Benson is in right field and hitting eighth against Detroit Tigers right-hander Reese Olson. The 29-year-old Fraley is useful in deep-mixed fantasy leagues against right-handed pitchers, mostly for his speed (12 steals). He's hit just one home run and driven in 12 in 194 at-bats in 2024.
