Hernandez has been sidelined since exiting early during Friday's contest due to an ankle injury. The X-rays came back negative, so the team is calling it a left ankle contusion. The hope is that Hernandez can return within the next day or two. In the meantime, Chris Taylor will play left field and bat ninth against right-hander Kyle Hendricks on Monday. Despite that, the team appears more invested in Vargas getting at-bats than a pending free agent.
