Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Chris Sale managed a quality start in Wednesday night's victory over the hosting Minnesota Twins at Target Field, striking out six batters in the win. Sale bolstered his Cy Young case with his 15th win as the Braves swept the Twins on Wednesday, most notably escaping a bases-loaded jam in the fourth inning. The 35-year-old All-Star left-hander has arguably been the top pitcher in all of baseball this year, submitting a 2.58 ERA and 1.02 WHP with 197 punchouts and 34 walks across 153 2/3 frames.

St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado hit a walk-off single in Wednesday night's win over the visiting San Diego Padres at Busch Stadium, turning in his second game-winning knock in the past week. Arenado knocked a grounder into center field to score Masyn Winn in the ninth inning and give the Cardinals a 4-3 win over the Padres on Wednesday. The 33-year-old star third baseman is having a strong month of August as St. Louis looks to stay alive in the wild-card hunt, batting 29-for-96 (.302) with three home runs, 16 RBI, 11 runs scored, and one stolen base.

Texas Rangers outfielder Wyatt Langford homered in Wednesday night's win over the hosting Chicago White Sox at Guaranteed Rate Field, recording three RBI in the victory. Langford plated three runs with a towering home run to left field off White Sox left-hander Sammy Peralta, opening the scoring for the Rangers 3-2 in the fourth inning. It's been an up-and-down season for the 22-year-old top prospect, who is slashing .245/.313/.372 with eight dingers, 53 RBI, 49 runs scored, and 12 stolen bases in 392 at-bats in his rookie year for Texas. After being one of fantasy's fastest-rising players back during spring training, Langford will be a post-hype sleeper candidate for 2025, barring a meteoric finish to 2024 that would otherwise drive his cost back up on draft day next year.

St. Louis Cardinals pitching prospect Tink Hence struck out six batters and generated 15 whiffs in his 3 2/3 innings on Wednesday for Double-A Springfield. The Cardinals' No. 2 prospect allowed one run on three hits with two walks in his brief outing. Hence is 4-3 this season with Springfield with a 2.66 ERA and 1.06 WHIP. The 22-year-old has recorded 100 strikeouts in 74 1/3 innings. Hence has the look of a future big-league ace and has produced a very good season at Double-A this year. He could be looking at a big-league debut at some point next season.

San Diego Padres catcher prospect Ethan Salas went 2-for-4 with three RBI Wednesday for High-A Fort Wayne. The 18-year-old produced his fifth multi-hit, multi-RBI performance for Fort Wayne this season. The Padres top prospect has 22 hits and 15 RBI in August. The No. 2 catcher prospect in all of baseball, Salas has come on lately at High-A. This season, he is hitting .210/.296/.318 with four homers and 46 RBI. At just 18 years old, the numbers aren't eye-popping, but Salas is still adjusting to each new level of pro ball. The upside is sky-high for the youngster. It might be a bit before he is behind the plate for the Padres but his development will be worth following.
