Danny Young To Undergo Tommy John Surgery

New York Mets left-handed pitcher Danny Young (elbow) was shifted to the 60-day injured list and is set to undergo Tommy John surgery. Young was placed on the 15-day injured list at the end of April with a left elbow strain but will now miss the remainder of the 2025 and a majority of the 2026 campaign. Through eight 1/3 innings of work, Young held a 4.31 ERA with a 1.44 WHIP. He struck out 13 batters but held a modest 8.1 percent walk rate. Last season, the 30-year-old logged 37 2/3 innings with the Mets and held a similar 4.54 ERA and a 1.25 WHIP. With Young set to miss the remainder of the campaign, fantasy managers should expect Ryne Stanek and Jose Butto to see more high-leverage opportunities alongside Reed Garrett.

Fraser Ellard Hits 15-Day Injured List

The Chicago White Sox have placed left-handed pitcher Fraser Ellard (lat) on the 15-day injured list with a left lat strain. This will be the 27-year-old's second stint on the injured list as he missed time in April with a hamstring strain. Ellard logged just 2/3 of an inning in Saturday's contest but stumbled as he allowed two runs and two walks. Through six 2/3 innings of work, Ellard has held a 6.75 ERA with a 1.05 WHIP. During his limited taste of action, Ellard has flashed strikeout potential as he has struck out 10 batters. Last summer, the southpaw made his MLB debut and posted a 3.75 ERA with a 1.25 WHIP across 24 innings of work. While he remains sidelined, fantasy managers should expect Cam Booser and Mike Vasil to see more high-leverage opportunities.

Leody Taveras Sitting On Sunday

Texas Rangers outfielder Leody Taveras is not in Sunday's lineup when they face the Seattle Mariners. Taveras was also held out of the lineup on Saturday and appears to be losing consistent playing time. As a result, Josh Smith will get the starting nod in center field. Smith was able to find opportunities at shortstop, but with Corey Seager back in action, it appears Smith could limit Taveras's opportunities in the outfield now. Through his first 29 games of the season, Taveras has held a modest .241/.259/.342 slash line with just three doubles and one long ball. The 26-year-old has generated a .198 xBA and a .261 xSLG, which suggest he should continue to see regression throughout the season. Fantasy managers in deeper formats should continue to monitor his status as he could be downgraded to a bench bat for the foreseeable future.

Bobby Dalbec Designated For Assignment

Chicago White Sox infielder Bobby Dalbec has been designated for assignment. Dalbec inked a minor-league contract with the White Sox in January but was only able to appear in seven games. During this brief stint with the White Sox,, Dalbec held a modest .222/.333/.278 slash line with one double and a 6:3 K:BB. Under the hood, Dalbec generated a modest .258 xwOBA but was able to draw walks at an impressive 14.3 percent rate. Last season, Dalbec held a .133/.217/.193 slash line across 37 games with the Boston Red Sox. Fantasy managers should expect Dalbec to report to Triple-A Charlotte if he goes unclaimed on waivers. With Dalbec on waivers, Josh Rojas should have a full-time role in the infield going forward.

Jesus Sanchez Remains Out On Sunday

Miami Marlins outfielder Jesus Sanchez (back) remains sidelined on Sunday when the Marlins conclude a series against the Athletics. Sanchez was scratched from Saturday's lineup due to back tightness and will remain sidelined on Sunday. The 27-year-old has only appeared in 14 games this season and has posted a modest .200/.310/.300 slash line with two doubles and one home run. Under the hood, Sanchez has generated a solid .360 xwOBA and an 11.4 percent barrel rate, which suggests he should see some positive regression when he returns to the starting nine. However, this afternoon, the Marlins will give Dane Myers the start in center field, and Ronny Simon and Kyle Stowers will cover the corners.
