Detroit Tigers outfield prospect Justyn-Henry Malloy went 2-for-3 with a solo home run to provide the only offense for his team in Wednesday's blowout loss versus the Texas Rangers. Malloy's homer would be the first of his big-league career. The 24-year-old was promoted on Monday and was hitless in his first seven at-bats before Wednesday's breakout performance. Malloy should continue to get regular playing with Kerry Carpenter (back) sidelined with no official return date. Malloy has a very strong eye at the plate, and that usually helps prospects as they transition to the big leagues. Malloy should be rostered in dynasty leagues and is worth a look in deeper redraft leagues as well.

Washington Nationals outfield prospect James Wood (hamstring) returned to practice with Triple-A Rochester on Wednesday. Wood has been on the seven-day injured list with right hamstring tightness since May 28 and hasn't played in a game since injuring himself on May 23. Wood, 21, is a consensus Top-5 prospect and was having a phenomenal season prior to his injury. Over his first 45 games, Wood has his an astonishing .355 with nine homers, 31 RBI and 10 stolen bases. The 6'7 outfielder has checked most of the boxes needed to reach the next level, but the Nationals being in a rebuild are going to make sure Wood will be up to stay upon his eventual promotion, which is likely to come this summer. First, Wood must get healthy, but once that happens, it is anyone's guess as to how much longer he will be on the farm. Wood's appears to be close and the sooner he hits the field, the sooner fantasy managers can dream of his promotion to the big-league club.

Houston Astros shortstop prospect Brice Matthews has been having a strong season offensively down on the farm. Matthews is the Astros' No. 3 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, and the Astros' first-round pick in 2023. Matthews, 22, opened the season in Rookie ball but has spent most of his season in High-A Asheville after opening the season on the seven-day injured list with lower-back tightness. Matthews is aggressive at the plate and on the basepaths, but his right-handed swing provides some of the best exit velocities on the farm. Matthews is a former high school quarterback and is very athletic, but the Astros will need to help him improve his plate discipline so that he can reach his full potential. The young shortstop is a couple of seasons away from a potential big-league debut and is a watch-list candidate for dynasty managers to monitor.

Minnesota Twins infield prospect Brooks Lee has been on fire since returning to action on June 4. Lee suffered a back injury at the end of Spring Training that would eventually be diagnosed as a herniated disc. After game action in Rookie Ball and Single-A, Lee made his Triple-A debut for St. Paul on Wednesday and went 1-for-3 with a walk. Overall, Lee, the club's No. 2 prospect, per MLB Pipeline has been scorching hot since his return with a .390 batting average that is accompanied by six RBI and three doubles in 41 at-bats. Lee is unlikely to help managers in redraft leagues this season, but could make his debut this summer with the Twins. The club's former first-round pick currently has his most value in dynasty leagues as he could have a bigger role with the club in 2025 and beyond.

After being promoted to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre earlier in the day, New York Yankees catcher/first base prospect Ben Rice made an impression in his debut. Rice went 2-for-4 in his new uniform with two runs, two RBI and a home run. Rice, the club's No. 12 prospect per MLB Pipeline, has been having an impressive season and has hit .261 with 12 homers, 26 RBI and eight stolen bases in 180 at-bats for Double-A Somerset. Rice has generally been older for most levels he has been in, but he has shown success from the left side of the plate with good bat speed and strength. Rice will need to figure out left-handed pitching before making the next step and also needs to find a position, as he's not the best defender at catcher or first base. There is a chance he can make his big-league debut in 2024, but he is more of a name for dynasty managers for now.
