New York Mets third baseman Mark Vientos (abdomen) is out of the starting lineup ahead of Saturday's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Vientos will miss his second straight game after being scratched ahead of Friday's contest due to abdominal soreness. It doesn't sound like something that will force Vientos onto the injured list, but he might sit out the weekend. On Saturday, Brett Baty will take over at third base and bat ninth versus right-hander Tony Gonsolin. Fantasy managers should adjust their lineups accordingly.

New York Mets third baseman Brett Baty went 2-for-4 with a walk anda solo home run in a 7-5 extra-innings loss to the Dodgers on Friday. It's the second straight multi-hit game for the left-handed hitter, a much-needed burst of offense that comes on the heels of a 1-for-15 (.067) stretch at the plate. Still, five of his six home runs and 11 of his 15 RBI have come in the last two weeks since the 6-foot-3 slugger's recall from Triple-A. Baty was not in the original lineup on Friday as he replaced Mark Vientos, who was scratched with abdominal soreness, but if Vientos remains out, Baty would get the nod against Tony Gonsolin on Saturday, whom he's seen just once in his career (0-for-1, K). Gonsolin allowed four earned runs on four hits and five walks his last time out and is allowing an .871 OPS to left-handed hitters in four starts this season compared to .556 against right-handed hitters, so Baty could be in play as a cheap DFS option.

New York Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo (neck) was pulled from Friday's series opener early at Citi Field against the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers due to a stiff neck, according to the team. Nimmo's neck injury stems from when he collided with the outfield wall in the second inning, and the 32-year-old was then replaced in left field by Jeff McNeil following a rain delay in Queens. Before hitting the showers early, Nimmo was hitless in his lone plate appearance with a strikeout against Dodgers left-hander Clayton Kershaw. Nimmo entered Friday's contest hitting just .213 (38-for-178) on the season with a disappointing .276 on-base percentage, but he has provided eight long balls and 27 RBI in his 49 games played for fantasy managers. McNeil would most likely see most of the starts in left field for the Mets if Nimmo's neck injury ends up sending him to the injured list.

New York Mets third baseman Mark Vientos (abdomen) has been scratched from the starting lineup for precautionary reasons due to abdominal soreness in Friday's series opener against the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers at Citi Field. Brett Baty will start at third base and at eighth, while Luisangel Acuna will play second base and bat ninth against Dodgers left-hander Clayton Kershaw. It sounds like there's a good chance Vientos will return to action for Game 2 of the series on Saturday, although fantasy managers will want to check back tomorrow. Vientos has disappointed through the first third of the season after a breakout 2024 campaign, but he remains New York's starting third baseman. Even though Kershaw allowed five runs in his 2025 debut, Baty and Acuna will be unappealing DFS options in the lefty-lefty matchup at the bottom of the order.

New York Mets infielders Luisangel Acuna and Jeff McNeil are both sitting out Friday's series opener against the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers with left-hander Clayton Kershaw on the mound. Brett Baty is starting at second base and batting eighth for the Mets. Acuna has only been in the lineup twice in the team's last six games, with each of his last four starts actually coming against left-handed pitchers. The 23-year-old is hitting a decent .267 (31-for-116) on the year with 10 stolen bases, but he's still searching for his first homer. McNeil got a late start in 2025 due to injury and has gone 13-for-58 (.245) with two homers and eight RBI in his first 21 games played. Baty won't be a great DFS sleeper on Friday. He's gone 2-for-11 against southpaws so far in 2025 and has never faced Kershaw in his career.
