Luisangel Acuna, Jeff McNeil Sitting Against Lefty

New York Mets infielders Luisangel Acuna and Jeff McNeil are both sitting out Friday's series opener against the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers with left-hander Clayton Kershaw on the mound. Brett Baty is starting at second base and batting eighth for the Mets. Acuna has only been in the lineup twice in the team's last six games, with each of his last four starts actually coming against left-handed pitchers. The 23-year-old is hitting a decent .267 (31-for-116) on the year with 10 stolen bases, but he's still searching for his first homer. McNeil got a late start in 2025 due to injury and has gone 13-for-58 (.245) with two homers and eight RBI in his first 21 games played. Baty won't be a great DFS sleeper on Friday. He's gone 2-for-11 against southpaws so far in 2025 and has never faced Kershaw in his career.

Francisco Alvarez, Jeff McNeil Out On Saturday

New York Mets catcher Francisco Alvarez and second baseman Jeff McNeil are both resting on Saturday in St. Louis against the Cardinals at Busch Stadium. Luis Torres is catching and batting eighth, while Luisangel Acuna is at the keystone and is hitting seventh against Cardinals right-hander Erick Fedde. Both Alvarez and McNeil recently made their season debuts after beginning the 2025 season with injuries. Alvarez has gone just 4-for-21 with a homer, double, three RBI, two walks and eight strikeouts in his first five games of the year. McNeil has been better, going 6-for-19 with a homer, three RBI and a run scored in his first five games played. Of the two replacements on Saturday, Acuna is the better DFS sleeper pick. The 23-year-old Venezuelan infielder has yet to homer in his 73 at-bats this year, but he's batting .288/.342/.356 with seven stolen bases.

Jeff McNeil Hits Three-Run Home Run On Monday

New York Mets outfielder Jeff McNeil hit his first homer of the season in a 19-5 blowout win over the Washington Nationals on Monday. McNeil went 2-for-5 with a triple, a homer, and three RBI to help power the Mets to the win. The veteran has logged just 12 at-bats in 2025 after spending the majority of the season on the injured list while recovering from a right oblique strain, but he's wasted little time catching up as he's hitting .333 with three RBI thus far. McNeil will look to stay hot as the Mets open up a series against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday.
