2024 Team Stats

Minnesota Twins third baseman Jose Miranda (back) is out of the starting lineup again on Saturday afternoon for the second consecutive game due to back stiffness. The 26-year-old should be considered day-to-day for the time being and may also sit out on Sunday and continue to rest over the All-Star Break. The 26-year-old has enjoyed a nice breakout season as he has posted a stellar .325/.366/.522 line with nine home runs and two stolen bases. Earlier this month, Miranda held an incredible 13-game hitting streak and even tallied 13 consecutive hits, which set a new record. As a result, rookie Brooks Lee will start at the hot corner this afternoon and bat in the cleanup spot. Lee has held a strong .333 AVG across his previous nine games and is worth a look in DFS this afternoon as he will face San Francisco right-hander Hayden Birdsong.

The Minnesota Twins scratched third baseman Jose Miranda (back) from Friday's series opener against the hosting San Francisco Giants with lower-back stiffness. Rookie infielder Brooks Lee was originally slated to make his first career big-league start at second base, but the injury to Miranda caused him to be moved to third base while hitting seventh. Willi Castro will now play the keystone and hit fifth for the Twins against Giants left-hander Kyle Harrison. Matt Wallner draws into the lineup in right field and is batting eighth. Even if Miranda's back injury isn't serious, it wouldn't be a surprise if he sat out the entire weekend with the All-Star break coming next week. The 26-year-old has been swinging a hot bat all year in a bounce-back campaign, especially recently, hitting .490 (25-for-51) with a homer, seven doubles, 13 RBI and a steal in 14 games since June 26.

Minnesota Twins rookie infielder Brooks Lee will get the start at the keystone and will bat eighth for the Twins in Friday's series opener in San Francisco against the Giants and left-hander Kyle Harrison. It will be the first time that Lee has started at second base in his ninth big-league game. All eight of his appearances to this point have come at the hot corner. If he keeps swinging the bat like he has early in his career, second base could be his regular position whenever Royce Lewis (groin) returns from the injured list. Lee, a switch-hitting 23-year-old that was the former eighth overall pick in 2022 out of Cal Poly, has gone 12-for-33 (.364) with two homers, a double and nine RBI in his first 35 plate appearances and is quickly becoming relevant in mixed fantasy leagues despite hitting near the bottom of Minnesota's batting order.

Minnesota Twins starting pitcher Bailey Ober took the loss in Wednesday's 3-1 defeat at the hands of the White Sox despite recording a quality start. Ober went six innings, allowing three earned runs on four hits and one walk while striking out six batters. He allowed a two-run home run with two outs in the sixth inning to Luis Robert Jr., otherwise, his line would have looked even better. It was Ober's fifth consecutive quality start and ninth of the season, now 8-5 with a 4.14 ERA, 1.08 WHIP, and a 20.5% K-BB%. The 28-year-old's run of quality starts, while impressive, has come against inferior competition. His next start will come after the All-Star break against the Brewers or Phillies, either of which will be a much tougher test.

Minnesota Twins infielder Brooks Lee had an up-and-down performance in his team's doubleheader against the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday. Across both games, Lee combined to go 1-for-9, with his one hit leaving the yard for a solo homer. Lee, one of Minnesota's top prospects, is off to a fast start in his first taste of MLB action, hitting .364 with two homers, five runs, and nine RBI over 33 at-bats. Lee should be on the radars of fantasy gamers moving forward.
