Jake Bauers Getting a Day Off

Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Jake Bauers is taking the day off in Sunday's series finale against the division-rival Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park. With Bauers resting in the matinee contest, Isaac Collins will make the start in left field and will hit fifth against Pirates left-hander Bailey Falter. The left-handed-hitting Bauers has started three of the last four games in left field for the Brew Crew against right-handed pitchers as he continues a platoon at the position with Collins. The 29-year-old has a .260/.357/.438 slash line on the year with a .795 OPS, three home runs, 13 RBI, nine runs scored and four stolen bases in his 73 trips to the plate. Bauers has gone 10-for-36 (.278) with a homer, two doubles, five RBI, three steals and three runs in 14 games in May. Collins hasn't really moved the needle much in fantasy with a .238 average (19-for-80) with a homer, six RBI and four steals.

Jonathan Cannon Scratched With Back Tightness, Bryse Wilson to Start

Chicago White Sox right-hander Jonathan Cannon (back) has been scratched from his start on Saturday against the Texas Rangers due to lower-back tightness and is listed as day-to-day, according to MLB.com's Scott Merkin. With Cannon hurting, right-hander Bryse Wilson will make the start at Rate Field. It sounds like Cannon might be able to avoid a trip to the injured list, but it's unclear when he'll be able to take the mound again. The 24-year-old has only 42 strikeouts in 55 innings over his 10 outings (eight starts) this year, but he's been decent with a 3.76 ERA (4.06 FIP) and 1.31 WHIP in his second year in the big leagues. The Rangers are an excellent matchup with a .651 OPS (fourth-worst in baseball), but Wilson will still be a volatile and risky fantasy streamer on Saturday. In his four starts in 2025, he has allowed 13 earned runs on 27 hits (four homers) with eight walks and 10 K's in 17 2/3 frames.

Aaron Ashby Reinstated From 15-Day Injured List

The Milwaukee Brewers announced on Friday that they reinstated left-hander Aaron Ashby (oblique) from the 15-day injured list and optioned right-hander Carlos Rodriguez to Triple-A Nashville in a corresponding move. Ashby is finally ready to return to the big leagues after starting the 2025 regular season on the IL due to a strained right oblique. The 26-year-old southpaw has always had intriguing strikeout potential, but his inability to stay healthy has hindered his production and consistency for the Brewers. As such, he will return in a relief role for the Brew Crew for the time being, limiting any real fantasy potential for mixed-league managers. Ashby had a small sample size of four minor-league rehab appearances for Triple-A Nashville, posting a 1.50 ERA with four strikeouts and five walks over his six innings pitched.

Trevor Megill Secures His Eighth Save of The Season

Milwaukee Brewers closer Trevor Megill secured his eighth save of the season on Thursday against the Pittsburgh Pirates and helped the Brewers hold on to win 8-5 in the contest. Megill entered the game in the bottom of the ninth, with the Brewers up 8-4, and a runner on second and third base with no outs. He took care of the next three batters with a punch out, ground out, and line out. Megill has now converted his last six save opportunities while posting a 0.93 ERA and 9:4 K:BB across his previous 9.2 innings. After a tough start to the 2025 season, he has found his groove, lowered his season ERA to 2.20, and converted eight of his nine save opportunities on the season. He remains a solid option in leagues that accumulate points for saves.

Christian Yelich Homers Twice, Drives in Four on Thursday

Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich had a huge night in his team's 8-5 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Thursday. Yelich went 2-for-3 with two homers, three runs, four RBI, and one walk to power the Brewers to the win. The veteran outfielder got his team off to a quick start with a three-run homer in the top of the first inning and then came back and added a solo shot in the sixth. Yelich's batting average of .192 is rough, but he is contributing in other categories in fantasy, with nine homers, 24 runs, 30 RBI, and eight stolen bases. Fantasy gamers will certainly take that while hoping the career .284 hitter's average normalizes throughout the season.
