Garrett Mitchell Likely to be Sidelined Until July

Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Garrett Mitchell (oblique) has been making slow progress since his injury in April. Mitchell suffered an oblique strain in late April and is likely to miss two months of action because of it. The organization was hopeful that Mitchell would be back on the roster by now. Sadly, Mitchell isn't making great progress, so he'll probably miss another month. Brewers manager Pat Murphy believes Mitchell should be back in the mix in early July. Mitchell isn't a great fantasy option, but is worth rostering in NL-only formats.

Blake Perkins Progressing Slowly

Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Blake Perkins (shin) has been making progress, but sadly it's not going as well as the organization has hoped. Perkins has been cleared to resume baseball activities since late April. That being said, Perkins was expected to be back with the Brewers by now. Sadly, Perkins progress has been slow and has been unable to run bases on consecutive days due to lingering soreness. Brewers manager Pat Murphy believes Perkins will be back by July. There should be more information later, but it sounds like Perkins is going to miss at least another month.

Chad Patrick Slated to be Primary Pitcher on Saturday

Milwaukee Brewers right-handed pitcher Chad Patrick is slated to be the primary relief option during Saturday's contest against the Philadelphia Phillies. Curt Hogg of The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel noted that Rob Zastryzny is expected to serve as the opener. Patrick has appeared in 12 games this season and has started in 11 of them. Through 57 2/3 innings of work, the right-hander has been able to hold his own through his first taste of MLB action. Across this stretch, Patrick has posted a 2.97 ERA with a 1.25 WHIP. Under the hood, he has generated a strong 5.9% barrel rate and a 3.89 xERA, which places him in the 48th percentile among qualified pitchers. This afternoon, fantasy managers should not target Patrick in DFS as he has only posted a modest 21.2% strikeout rate and will have a tough task facing a potent Philadelphia lineup.

Rob Zastryzny Serving as Opener on Saturday

Milwaukee Brewers left-hander Rob Zastryzny is set to serve as the team's opener on Saturday at Citizens Bank Park versus the hosting Philadelphia Phillies, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's Curt Hogg. It's expected that right-hander Chad Patrick will serve as the bulk reliever once Zastryzny comes out of the game after one or two frames. In his lone opening assignment of the year so far, the 33-year-old southpaw threw a scoreless inning with two strikeouts on May 19 against the Baltimore Orioles. Zastryzny will get a much tougher matchup this time around against the first-place Phillies and isn't a realistic streaming option for likely just one inning of work. In five total appearances this year in his second year in Milwaukee, he has thrown five scoreless innings with one walk and seven strikeouts.

Christian Yelich Blasts Two Homers in Win

Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich continued his hot stretch of play against the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday. Yelich smacked a three-run home run off Tanner Banks in the fifth inning. The left-handed slugger struck again as he added a solo shot Carlos Hernandez in the final frame. It was his 12th career multi-homer game as Yelich went 3-for-5 with two homers, four RBI, and he extended his hitting streak to eight games. The veteran outfielder has been unstoppable at the plate over the last week. He has three homers and eight RBI over his last three games. Yelich needs to be started in all fantasy formats right now while he's on fire at the plate.
